Akrapovic Slip-on Question
My car currently has the M Perf Slip-on for which the OEM exhaust pipes had to be cut in order to install the MPE. Will the Akra slip on fit the current setup (where the pipe cut is already made) or will it fall short and I will need any additional piping?
Thanks.

If you want to use just the Akra slip on system, you will have to re-weld or clamp your stock mid pipe from just after the secondary catalytic converter (which is where the stock mid pipe was first cut to fit the MPE).
Unlike the MPE, the Akra slip on is essentially just a muffler. The MPE includes both a muffler and midpipes (and is therefore not really a "slip on system") |

The stock midpipe is 2,76" i gues, and the Akra is 3". So you also need a converter to fit the pipes

Stock and Akrapovic share close if not the same piping diameter. OP: The Akrapovic Slip-On system fits after the resonator, while the MPE is fitted after the secondary cats. Here's a couple images for reference: |

Also, I heard that just the Akra slip-on barely makes a difference in sound. Quite muted. Is that accurate? Thanks.

Akrapovic's Evolution Midpipes are no longer on sale officially in the US due to emission issues. And yes Akra Slip-On barely makes a difference, it calms down the stock exhaust by a lot, the raspiness would be gone but as soon as you get used to that you won't even remember the difference. That is how it was for me when I first did Slip-On. Evolution Midpipes makes a rather big difference because it eliminates the secondary cats (hence the emission issues.) Although technically you can probably pair Akra Slip-On with AA Midpipes but you'll have to cut the AA Midpipes to make it fit. I'm sure AutoTalent can make that work also but I never have seen or even heard that setup before so.

I may be misunderstanding, but it sounds like you're looking for the evolution link pipe? This piece connects the Akrapovic Slip-On to the downpipes: DSC02795 by Justin Shih, on Flickr The Slip-On system is a bit tame, Arcades had it and added the link pipes a couple months later. The Slip-On just changes the tone of the exhaust, more sound is produced by deleting the cats, secondary or primary. Here are clips of each stages: A stock mid pipe. That may be difficult to obtain. Your best bet is to swap MPE for stock if you do not have it. We are currently short on stock systems as most of them have been picked up or claimed. |

Not to an old thread but... Justin (or anyone else), would you have any photos of an Akra. slip on mated to AA mid pipes? Aside from any piping diameter issues, would there be any Ti. to Al. contact (clamp) issues?? Cheers! |
