BMW South Austin Experience

A quick shout out to BMW of South Austin, I just picked up an X6 from them.

It's not only a modern facility, it's staff and processes are the best I've seen. I highly recommend Montye Edwards, he knows the products, understands his customers and facilitates a no pressure experience. Between Montye and Riley Walker the entire process from test drives, through negotiation and digital finance process was extremely easy!!! The level of service and attention to detail across the entire team was impressive ... this is the model for best in class customer experience.

I would have had Montye pick up my M2 Competition order, but that was in the works far before our new Austin dealership opened.

Did you lease or finance? I stopped in to get a lease quote on a car and they had the MF marked up and wouldn’t come down much on it. They also didn’t offer much off the car and seem to add dealer options to most of the cars. Everyone was nice and a great facility but just a bad finance experience.

I gotta go there for service in October. Anyone know how their service department is? Front passenger seat has wrinkles in the leather and might need replacing. Don't want a hassle to get it replaced since the car only has 200 miles.

Join the M Gruppe. Not only are we a great group of M owners, but the benefits are nice. As an M Gruppe member (at partner dealership), master tech's only work on our cars and we get 15% off service and parts.

I'm a member already which is why I'm going to south austin even though I live in pflugerville. I'm skeptical though that they'll only let master techs work on our cars. I get the vibe that they'll just put whomever depending on availability.

I did my 1200 mile break-in on my F90 M5 there. Service was not good. Took in first time, and they took 5 hours, only to tell me they did not have rear-diff oil. Had to bring it back a second time...they kept the car all day (I got a loaner), but could not finish by end of day and had me pick it up first thing the next morning.

I sent the GM and Service Manager a nice enough note saying I was not very impressed with my first service experience there.

Helluva nice dealership, though.....impressive building and showroom.

That's why I'm skeptical. I don't know what the hiring process is, but are the techs usually transferred from another dealership or are they hired fresh or how does it work? And these master techs, where are they brought from? Cause I doubt they could have techs promoted to master tech in the few months they've been open.

I would be VERY surprised if these guys were master techs. I mean I could see the 5 hours it took on the first visit to download the fuel pump fix, but the second visit to change out the rear diff oil, takes over a day? I could understand if the service dept was slammed, but they offer same day service appts....so I am leaning towards junior techs working on a new M car...and confusion.

Agreed. Which leads me to believe they may not honor the master tech stipulation for M Gruppe members.
