For you guys on the fence about buying with the discount, I suggest you buy it ASAP.

My friend got wrecked. BMW pulled a fast one. His $5500 discount ends today but they removed it last week already. He tried calling to inquire about the discount and they said it has ended already. He said they offered an exception if you send a payoff in full postmarked with today's date.

Whats fucked is you have no idea you even have the discount unless you check your BMWFS account and who does that? The only reason I even started checking it was because of the reports here about the discount showing up. If BMW really wanted us to take advantage of it they would notify us of said discount but they don't. Its strange the way they are going about it.

Exactly!! I was saving the payoff quotes once a week and that saved me too. Frustrating

Agreed. Unfortunately, my lease does not end until next June so not eligible, although I have checked a few times. Maybe the way they went about it was their way to quietly control lease returns for a while and now it’s over.

I am on the fence with mine only because it has an accident on the carfax. Worst case I can trade it in at my local who did the repair as they would have no valid reason to give me less because it was their body shop who repaired it. If it weren't for the accident I wouldn't hesitate but even so it probably makes the most sense to buy it and deal with selling/trading it when the G80s come out or something else tickles my fancy.

Well, I think it was a limited time thing and as we know "these days" things change quickly. If you were lucky enough to find out about it, cool. But as we have seen, times are a changing, used car prices are going up, inventory is down, it was sort of a silly move on their part to even offer it, but then again, nobody's crystal ball is working these days.

I agree 100% because I thought for sure COVID was going to decimate the auto industry but here we are.

Even if they repaired it, there's a good chance they won't want to sell it. In that case, they would send to auction and give you wholesale. I'd price trade in before buying out. Even minor accidents can be like a scarlet letter.

Normally I would agree with you but having bought, serviced and repaired by them I would think they would have no valid reason to not give me a fair trade if I move into a G80. But they are still a dealer regardless of how well I like to believe I have a working relationship with them. Shitty part is the accident very well may negate the BMWFS discount and then some if and when I were to sell/trade it in vs. turning it at lease end.

CarMax isn't an option right now because my car isn't stock. Carvana offered me $48k minus $4800 for the accident and minus $4K for my 'local market' for grand total of $40k. KKB instant cash offer @$44385 ($100 over what I owe). Checked Vroom as well but no response from them yet.

My local is offering to sell it to me for the same buyout as BMWFS with the $5500 discount @2.79 for 60 months (exact same rate from my bank).

IMO BMW is giving this discount because they know the true market value of these vehicles and they will return to those values as new car inventory returns to normal. Just my .02 after working at Manheim for 10 years.

only a matter of time before they pull this $5,500 incentive. these cars (2018s mainly) are selling for astronomical money in the used market.

Real world example of a car with an accident on the car fax and a dealer asking $60k. So even with an accident these cars still seem to command a high premium on the used market.

Carfax shows "Damage reported" - minor scuff on the side of the car. I retrieved the repair invoice of $280. Possibly the reason why it wasn't CPO'd??

$59,900 asking price

What do you guys think, based on the aggressive used car market that we have now? I'm about to pull the trigger on this one. Thanks in advance for your help!

That 18 inflation should end as soon as the G80s hit.

I just bought mine out from my local dealer...2.49 @60 through BMWFS w/$5500 discount. Per my salesman M cars have been pulled from that customer lease purchase discount.

And anyone buying out a lease in MD there is no tax which I always thought there was.
