It depends on who makes the half cage. Some can, some can't. OG Shark makes one for the M2 that you can fit tires inside of, and I'm sure can make one similarly for F80/82.

Thanks FaRKle! . Hoping someone has first hand experience. A roll bar seems like the next progression for my car but have a long distance to cover to get to the track so need to bring rubber.

jbalabas yes it can be done for sure. Look for a design like this:

This is what we do for the F87 but same layout works on the F82 like FaRKle! mentioned. 12" of clearance minimum to slide tires under. Depending on how you want the crossbars set up can possibly stand them up too gaining even more room. Can also remove the floor and gain a hair more if the tires push past that height but wouldn't try to push that gap too much.

How much does this weigh? Is there a store page with the price and specs? Thanks

They start around 45lbs and go up from there depending on how what design you want. A full GTS style with gussets would be around 65lbs or so. We use 1.75" x 0.095" which weighs ~ 1.68lbs/ft. Docol R8 is our material of choice as well.

Do have a site (www.ogsharkmotorsport.com) but we do not have these on there right now. We have a big backlog of full cages we need to knock out right now so we are concentrating on those for the time being. Probably start back up on half cages sometime in Q1. Don't want to take orders and have anyone waiting a few months before they get them.

I have a welded in half cage and my builder moved the hoop between the rear wheel up so that I can put two tires where the back seat used to be. I then put a wheel in the trunk and the last one one the front seat. Here is how unfit four tires, seat, bags, tools and 10 gals of fuel in my M2:

My cage (the builder moved the cross bar you see toward the end of the video up so that I can slide a tire underneath it):
