F83 MPE

I remember there being an exhaust thread (I think the AA system) where someone had issues with fitment b/c it was on an f83.

I plan to install my MPE tomorrow, but will I have fitment issues ?

I just got my 2018 F83 ZCP M4 and had the dealership install the MPE right away

The issue was with a full exhaust that went from the downpipes. The MPE is kinda like an axle back exhaust because you are utilizing most of the existing midpipe so my guess is that you won't have issues.

Yeah, that's what I figured but I didn't know which part of the exhaust he was having issues with. As there have been multiple videos of the MPE on f83's I'm sure i'll be fine though.

Thanks guys!

Go for it man, the dealer installed it for me really quick and didn't mention a thing about any fitment problem. Once you hear it, you will swear this car should NOT be sold without the MPE. Period.

It sounds exactly like an M4 GTS especially if your car has the competition pack.

Yeah, I'm just going to install mine myself as I enjoy working on it. But I've had it for a little over a month and just recently heard someone else's car with it on and that was the deciding factor. Very excited to get out of work and start wrenching!

Advice, get the dealer to install this for warranty reasons. It is a relatively simple install if you have the pipe cutter and a lift but over time a number of these mufflers have cracked and are replaced by warranty but some folks have had issues because they either couldn't show they bought it from BMW or prove install was done correctly.

Any axle back will fit no issues on the F83

Too late and mine was used anyways so it wouldn't matter. Just have to keep the fingers crossed at this point.

Even if you bought it used, you can still prove it is a legitimate part if the previous owner is willing to share a copy of the receipt. I would hope BMW would be willing to cover an authentic part even if you installed it yourself. It would just be easier if they can't shift the blame to anyone else. By now I hope they have either resolved this or accepted it as a known issue. People have been able to fix it as well so it's not like it's a crisis if it does happen.

Exactly. I'm going to be honest and say I'm basically expecting it to crack but at least I'm ready to fix it if it does happen and it's not the end of time if it does. It's just a shame

You need to cut your stock exhaust before the 2nd cats to install a MPE and fit it over the stock and clamp it with the clamps provided, easy to do but not exactly bolt on. So if longer you need to cut a longer piece for f80 but for f83 it should be the same, everything will fit the same. The added material for convertibles are integrated within the car not hanging low or else it would possibly be damaged and that is a lawsuit bmw does not want! I would install the muffler first then guage how much needs to be cut to fit the mpe midsection on. Enjoy, its a different car with mpe and the titanium muffler !
