So much for wireless charging...

For those who ordered wireless charging hoping the iPhone 7 would have are out of luck.

Yup that was kind of annoying but oh well. Not even sure how much I would use it after looking at it based on the fact that I run Waze all the time and it has to be plugged in because it just wrecks the battery life.

I'm sure at some point Apple will put that in as a feature...For those of us keeping our cars longer term, better to get the capability now IMO

If the same spec is supported by then...

I guess if you really want to use it you can get that bulky ugly BMW wireless charging case for the iPhone.

I have an iPhone 6, I bought a Mophie Wireless charging battery case and it works great with the BMW wireless charging. Fits perfect, my wife has an iPhone 6 Plus and we bought the same case for hers... Works like a charm!

Being Android the I7 doesn't stuff doesn't affect me, although I am surprised they still haven't implemented it as my last SEVERAL android phones have had it and I wouldn't get another phone without it.

I used the wireless charger on my car a few times on my ED, but I really can't see me using it much after my car gets back here. I also almost always have Waze on and have an AirDock wireless charger/mount that I plug into the port under the passenger dash and mount on my center console.

I used the wireless charging a good amount on ED with my S7. What I'm really hoping for is an Android Auto retrofit into iDrive 5

Yes, totally. I hate that Android seems to be second class citizen in many of these cases. There are a bunch of other expensive cars like Audi and Cadillac that have it.

Can anyone post pictures of the area you put your phone for wireless charging? Trying to eyeball if a plus size iPhone will fit

Wife's IPhone 6 Plus in the charger. It is also in a Mophie Wireless charging case.

^ that picture above is on an suv and won't apply to the f8x series. That is more of pocket style which is probably better since you have more room to play with.

On the f8x it looks just like the old snap in adapters since we don't have that kind of space in our center arm rest console.
This is what we get...

Are there any other cases for the iPhone that will work with the car's wireless charging?

I'm considering the Morphie, but it will make my plus 7 way bigger than it already is.

You can just buy a Qi Wireless Charging receiver (with lightning connector) and stick it inside of another thinner case. I can take pics tomorrow, or link you to amazon. (Or just search "lightning Qi charging receiver" (or case).

I have an Iphone 6+and the MY17 with the new wireless charging device. The concept is nice but the execution is not the greatest imo. Even though wireless charging is not capable on IP6 and IP7s, I find myself having a difficult time just placing these phones (without a case) in the charging port. The fit is really tight and I feel like the forcing the larger phones into the port compresses them in a harmful way. The non-plus sized iphones will probably fit better.

Seriously, why did BMW give us ZERO center console space? And with any of the snap in adapter accessories you get even less than zero! WTH is under the console that they couldn't make it a little deeper.

Honestly the whole wireless charging thing is worthless when your phone is inaccessible anyway.

A magnetic, visible, inductive mount in the car that would allow you to stick your phone on + use Waze while charging your phone. . . Now we're talking.

Yeah at this point after seeing that console I am hoping that I can just remove the cradle somehow. Having my phone tucked away in console while charging is 100% useless for me although I am sure it satisfied some of the lawyers and law makers.

I run Waze nearly all the time and need the phone out on the dash.
