Maybe in a different color, the gold just is screaming "look at me and my M badge!"

It's actually the duffle that has wheels and the retractable handle; almost like a rolling suitcase. It's on a frame of sorts.

I got a Porsche Martini racing gym/duffel bag for a dealership gift. Can’t wait to feel extra douchey walking into the gym with that tomorrow.

I hope I'm given some Porsche swag when my 992 arrives. Hell, even if they only give me the clear turn signals for free I'll still be a happy camper.

I like that gold suitcase. The quality of those plastic shell suitcase is so hit-and-miss though.

Also, WTF south Florida porsche dealers, I’ve never gotten more than a keychain. Although Porsche NA did send me a nice CF pen and book after every purchase so there’s that

I gotten so used to being able to multidown shift with PDK that I had forgotten about it.

All of my cars currently are either PDK or my father's Prius lol.

In defense of BMW, Porsche suit cases cost far more for the same thing. They are all the same just with a Porsche badge on it lol.

P.S. Well okay they're like, $500 to $900. I linked the most expensive one.

I do not understand folks that need suvs and trucks to drive on hwys, local roads and grocery shopping. I am planning to keep it for a long time and am not planning to purchase anything new in the next several yrs.

When it comes to new tech some of it is natural progress and some helpful tech like backup cams and a lot of it is gizmos for manuf to charge more. Most people do not use many of these features anyways. From a tech point of view these gizmos make those cars as throaway gadgets after few yrs, similar to cell phones. How about that nav from 2003? Basically the latest models will not be servicable by most independent shops due to s/w and complexity when warranty expiries or manuf stops supporting them. Therefore the cars that are built well and can be serviced will hold values and appreciate in my opinion as not everybody has or wants to spend 500-1000/mo on car pmts.

So to summarize this, bmw took a significant departure in 2012 after E series models. The only F series I would consider is M2/3/4. Some other F models may be ok like 240/340/440 but not great due to diluted and numb driver-machine interface. It may be the case that bmw enthusiasts stay frozen in time and reject new models but continue to hoard older ones similar to air cooled 911 enthusiasts. I have nothing in common with the new XM and consider it an oxymoron. Don't really understand bmw rebranding. Maybe it's gadgets and bling.

I can tell you one thing. E9x sport has better steering than any F series M.

LCI E90 M Sport is peak 3 Series - I've said it before and I'll keep saying it.

We had an E91 LCI from 2009 to 2018 - if it were a six cylinder, probably would've still kept it, but even despite the lack of displacement, it was a great car and I still miss it.

Looked like a BMW 3 Series at first glance, had a mean face in M Sport guise with the angel eyes yet wasn't overly aggressive, it was the right size and the cabin was cosy with better materials than the F3x (don't know about the G20, I'm going to find out in a few weeks). Mine already had EPS, so can't comment on hydraulic steering, but they're a few key suspension mods away from being top handling cars. It's got all the comfort features you need today, too...

Test drove an F30 340i with the M Performance LSD and power kit; it was nice but was left feeling quite meh about it. Still put in an order for an Individual build, though backed out after the 6MT was discontinued and soon after found my M3 for not too much more money. Still thinking of going for a G20 as a DD, but it just still doesn't tickle my pickle like the E90 did back in the day. Maybe after driving it, I'll hopefully change my mind.
G20 steering is simar to F30. It is a bigger car. I hate those tiny HVAC buttons in the middle. F3x were fine.

Former analog dials with nice big HVAC buttons is so nice and easy to use on the fly and the cluster turns subtle orange at night. Just awesome for driving with minimal eye strain. I can't stand these game-y clusters.

Random thought for the thread - anyone ever buy a car from a dealer out of state? Currently run into an odd proposition as the dealer apparently doesn't sell out of state but will sell to me if I pick it up in person... I don't see how that would be any different aside from me paying to ship the car as all the registration and tax still has to be remitted to WA

As for BMW... the f80 will probably be my last new one. its a very good car but the s55 doesn't have much character. i'll either go to an e92 m3 or see what other offerings are out there. car market is just too insane right now to justify dumping an f80 for a similar miles lci e92 for the same money.
a lot to like with P but that LH ignition would drive me insane racing heritage be damned it doesn't belong on every day cars when most folks are RH.

I used to live in MN and bought all of my audis from a Wisconsin dealer - they handled the taxes & all that jazz they did it so much, and we always had to pick up in person. I also bought an M3 for ED from a Maryland dealer, but in that case we had it shipped via dealership "courtesy delivery" after it was shipped from Europe.

Anyway, easy to do, just have to be mindful of taxes & registration.

You get accustomed to it very fast. No issue for me when driving the P-car. It’s when I step into my wife’s RS3 that it gets funny, where I end up turning off the headlights instead of shutting down the engine

PS: I had already posted that funny tidbit some time ago…

Yeah I figured it should be pretty straight forward - I've never run into a dealer that didn't want to make a sale happen. I'm not even haggling them on price and it's in their interest to get this specific car sold as it's been on their lot for 3+ months. I guess I still don't understand the "pick up in person" sticking point - I'd love to go get it in person but it's logistically extremely improbable given my work schedule & holidays.

That one at least is pretty high quality - my wife has one that's the same color of her car.

That handle in the middle of the shell reduces the carrying capacity of the case, though. Which is unavoidable because the case is made to fit a frunk, and you'll need that handle to be able to lift the thing out

I got used to the left hand thing pretty quick to. It’s the faux key that gets me every now and then still. I’ll try and push it instead of turn it.

I was thinking of asking if they can gift one to me for my GT4 lol.

But I do have one that is roughly the same size so. I don't feel the need to ask for a suitcase that I would rarely use anyway. Not big on hard shell rollers tbh

Mavus I am in agreement with CanAut for this. It took me sometime to get used to it but I did get used to it and now I generally just turn the key first when I get in without a second thought. I believe Porsche got this from either past rally heritage or racing heritage where it is normal for it to be on the left side. Since I got used to it, the change of putting in my key for my GT4 hasn't been that different either. It is a little odd though since the actual key fob is far fatter (the old one) compared to the newer key that is thinner. Not a huge deal though.

see that's it! I can see myself missing the damn hole at night multiple times and constantly scratching the dash. Then when you are inside and turn off the engine you have to open the door with your left hand while holding the key or pass it to the right hand. Why not put the damn hole on the rhs!? Don't think anybody would object.
