Today I learned that the car only beeps when it locks the first time... not subsequent times.

Yea, I was that idiot standing the parking lot, clicking his key fob over and over like it was a busted TV remote...

It's more specific (and thus less confusing) to refer to model codes, particularly when talking about previous or upcoming generations of these cars. Otherwise, for example, when referencing an E46 M3 in your post, you would say a 2002 M3, and hope that the reader actually knows this is an E46 as it was produced between 2001 and 2006. Likewise, the "upcoming M3 that will be released in late 2020 as a 2021 model" becomes the G80, and so on. Even current generations can be easier with codes, such as typing M3 convertible vs. F83. Give it a try.

Makes sense. Is there a cheat sheet/conversion chart somewhere so I can learn all of the codes?

I learned San Marino Blue is quite flashy, much more than I ever thought. I absolutely love it but there are some occasions (certain parking areas, towns, etc) where grey or black would be welcome!

There are a lot of codes, but in reality you only will want to be familiar with the cars that are being discussed in the forums that your visit.

Also, notice that in the BMW forums, this and others, the main forums are divided by the chassis codes. This is because each chassis model has specifications unique to that chassis. You don't want to go looking in an E92 M3 thread about turbo problems with your F8x because the E92 M3 (or any previous M3 model) didn't have turbos.

125 mph in this car is a relatively sedate experience (crossing Tampa Bay on the mornin commute)

Does the commute traffic move that quickly and have you no speed limits over there?

The bridges across the Bay are one of the few places I’ll stretch the cars legs.

There just happened to be no traffic, and I could see a mile or two in the distance (no cops, no chance of cars entering the road).

Sounds great I'm guessing some magnificent scenery down your way

3. Many, many people are still learning about the light touch on the memory keys tells you what the key is programmed for.
4. I have much to learn about rev matching, coding, active sound and sequential mode.
5. Many, many people love their M4 as much as me. Bot mine July (2015, used). Previously owned a 2013 335i coupe bot new. The M4 is light years ahead and so, so much fun.
6. More to be posted later...
Point 2 - If you say I want to buy an M3, I would say which one, an E30, E36, E46, E90, E92, F80....It shows the exact generation model.

M4 is brand new, but as you delve into the future generations, it will someday be called the F82 M4 to earmark the model by body/engine/production years, etc....

225-240 km/h in this car is a relatively sedate experience (crossing Germany on the Autobahn, where's it's legal...)

The F80 is about 8 seconds a lap faster than the E90 at COTA.
And using the fastest DCT shift speed at the top of 2nd gear makes passing a little too interesting!

I assume it doesn't fit into the sliding holder?
But does it still charge the phone if you just sit it on top of the holder?
