Yeah, I thought it would fit, I mean it’s smaller than the 7+/8+ and I thought they fit (had a X before).

It will, but it’s not secure, so it’ll move around.

Actually, it will not, without removing the sliding piece, and I am not sure if that’s possible. I also looked on realoem.com to see if there was a different part number and there isn’t. Very displeasing.

That I can extend the range of the key fob by pressing it against my chin when pressing a button

I called BMW Genius and there is no replacement part available that would allow people to charge larger phones.

I preferred the size of the X, and if it were up to me I would have ordered a XS, but I was not left with a choice.

Well known trick. Touching any part of your head works, I've been able to double the range. I'm guessing it works by turning your whole body into an antenna.

My theory is that the back of your cranium acts as a parabolic dish, which is why max range can be achieved by holding it to your forehead

You'll look a little idiotic doing it but opening your mouth while pressing the key fob under your chin (or touching it to your head anywhere else) will extend the range even further.

For a real retarded looking touch, hold your other arm in the air, palm open and fingers spread at the same time. Super range.

I learned this the wrong way as well. Trying to look cool in front of people whilst walking away and bloody thing scared the crap out of me when it honked!

LOL!!!
I just pictured that whole scenario in my head. Hilarious.

I learned that when you hit the stop button while still in gear it goes directly into park without shutting anything down. I always thought I then had to hit the button a second time to shut the car off. Well today I learned NOT SO! Just get out and lock it. Shuts everything down. Of course good luck trying to explain that whole process to a valet... or your wife!

My wife and I took our first post-Euro Delivery road trip in her 2018 M3 this past weekend, driving from San Diego to the Santa Ynez area wine country. While driving on I-5, in the areas where there were car pool lanes, it advised us to use the car pool lane when there was traffic congestion (like everywhere in Orange County, LA County, and Ventura County!).

In the 2.5 years that I've owned my 2016 M4, this has never happened, in fact it doesn't even seem to know about the car pool lanes. The 2018 M3 hasn't done this when my wife has been driving solo. It's almost as if it detected a body in the passenger seat and recognized that we could drive in the car pool lane. Any one else experience this?

Yes. There is a sensor in the seats so it knows whether an airbag should be deployed. This info is ported to th nav system. I had to shut it off because I keep my backpack in the passenger seat and it kept giving me directions based on th ability to use th carpool lanes when I couldn’t.

FYI, a Customer Satisfaction rep called me about my call and basically said the same thing, they're unaware of a replacement part, and we are SOL (i bet most of you don't know what SOL is).

The one most people don't get it is 'snafu' is actually 'SNAFU' – a slang acronym for 'Situation Normal: All Fucked Up' which military people all know, probably because it originated in the USMC. My personal favorite is FUBAR.

Can also be used as a verb, as in: this thread is now FUBAR’d.

I checked back in to learn something new about my M3/4. Where did things go off the rails.
