Wagner Intercooler Fitment Issues?

Hey guys.

Does anyone have any experience with the Wagner intercooler? Does it rub against the hood?

This is the biggest issue stopping me from purchasing this unit. I don't want any rubbing or other issues.

Doesnt hit the hood at all? No vibrations? No noise? Basically feels 100% OEM in terms of fitment?

I had the same TMIC leak issue. I looked at the Wagner as well & from what I have seen/heard, fitment is predominantly an issue on the F87 but it can still happen on the F8x. Not sure the correlation. I passed up on a Wagner unit for the same reasons that you are skeptical.

At the end of the day, I could not justify paying close to $2,000 for something that "might" fit. I'm also not tuned nor do I plan to be, so the Wagner might have been a bit overkill for my use. I just picked up a lightly used CSF unit for ~50% of the price instead.

I'm tuned and will be FBO/E85 soon, but it's just the fitment issue that i'm skeptical about.

That's why i'm hoping people with the Wagner unit will see this post, comment, and put my mind to ease

Does the GTS hood have less clearance than OEM?

No problems at all I’ve had it on 8 months, if it was rubbing the hood my custom paint would have marks on it. What noise?

Put the connector to the palm of your hand and use your other hand to hold the intercooler and push the connector in.

Yeah— found out the issue is the welds are too thick...

I've already contacted XHP and Wagner for a return. Let's see how this is handled...

Aww that stinks. Somebody welded that fitting a little too much. You could whiz off the plastic just enough to fit using a dremel wheel.

Yeah, man... insane for a $2000 unit... i don't want to saw anything off or modify it...

I already contacted Mike@XPH. I hope this gets resolved quickly. My tech (very well known shop in South Florida) was appalled by this...

something you'd expect from a china IC, not one of the most expensive ones on the market!

I mean look... shit happens... i'm pissed, but it's up to the vendor and manufacturer to make things right. I'm more curious to see how this situation is handled moving forward. If it can be replaced with a non-defective unit... then it should just be a small bump in the road.

If i get told to kick rocks— then that's a different story. Again, it's not a chinese IC, but rather one of the "best" on the market.

there shouldn't be any welds at all on the 2 connector points.
