That’s exactly what I’m thinking. Springs and stock dampers are fantastic for the time being.

I’m swapping out end links, front mono ball, rear UCA, rear toe link, and rear trailing arm for Fall Line parts next month. I’m excited to get more road feel and a stiffer overall set up.

That’ll help me figure out coilover needs next too.

I usually just find myself at the Cars and Coffee events with some friends.

Not much interest in the mall parking lot meets these days, haha.

Once that was wrapped up, it was off to replace the Michelin Super Sport tires with some Michelin Pilot Sport AS4, install a KW HAS kit, install a stud kit, pin the crank hub and replace oil and coolant. The brakes were replaced new by the dealer to get the car into CPO condition, so they stayed.

I wanted the car low and mean since I knew it was going right into storage for the winter and it wouldn't be staying that way for spring. The look is mean, but the drive sucked, unsurprisingly.

More to come soon...
This setup looks sooo good! Is it at its lowest setting on the kw has kit?

Thanks!! It’s almost as low as it will go in those pictures, but not quite. It also was just installed so it had not settled at all yet.

I’m hoping to install a guard soon too… I don’t want to deal with any oil cooler damage!

Turner skid plate in bound ! Although… realizing the hard way today that the CS has additional brackets to hold the front lip spoiler - which means the OE plastic oil cooler guard and belly pans have cutouts to fit properly.

Should be straightforward to work around… seems like with a few specific cuts it will go in just fine.

What a summer... I broke my ankle just days before dropping off the car for the Fall Line link install back in May so things slowed way down. The silver lining is it gave me time to keep perfecting the build.

Back in May I ended up doing the Fall Line suite of parts for the F80: front thrust arm bearing upgrade; front sway bar end links; rear sway bar end links; rear upper control arms; rear toe links; and rear trailing arms.

At the same time a Turner oil cooler guard/skid plate was installed (slight modification needed due to the CS OEM front splitter which adds a few brackets that the standard F80 doesn't have). Otherwise it bolted right up.

After some back and forth on ride height and alignment, plus some healing on my end, I finally got some time in the car over the last 6 weeks and man what a difference the suspension linkage makes. I knew this to be the case from my 340i, but the entire chassis really appreciates the improved stiffness.

But now it is time for the final piece - dampers and springs. The KW HAS kit was always a bit of a placeholder as previously mentioned, something to allow me to figure out the suspension geometry a bit more before making the investment on a proper set of dampers. Mission accomplished from that perspective.

So, in a few days time I'll be picking up the M3 again, this time with it's new dampers, springs and camber plates to bring the whole thing home. More updates to come then... it's gonna be amazing.

Time to hit the track!! Just picked up the M3 from the suspension install... here we go!

- MCS 2-Way Non Remote dampers
- Eibach/Hyperco springs
- Ground Control camber plates
- Ground Control rear spring perch
- plus a number of small parts and pieces (everything was replaced and refreshed while we were in there)...

With the Fall Line links already installed we were able to properly corner balance the car after the ride height was set.

Final alignment specs are my starting point... I am looking forward to the journey of learning this suspension system and documenting the adjustments over time.

Some notes already:

- 5mm spacer up front on the OEM 763M wheels
- no spacer out back for now... the Fall Line tension arms have pushed the rear knuckle backwards a few mm (easy to accommodate for with the adjacent, and adjustable, Fall Line toe links) which puts the back edge of the tire pretty close to the rear bumper itself.
- I can predict a scenario where I sell the 763M gold wheels once I chew through these tires and go with a dedicated 18" square set for track days

Enjoy some iPhone pictures for now. I hope to do a mini shoot soon, now that all the upgrades I dreamed have been completed! So stoked to keep driving this machine.

Some better shots of the whole car. A short little drive this morning has me convinced that everyone needs a set of MCS dampers. These things are buttery.

First adjustment to the dampers - adding two clicks of compression dampening.

Original set up is based upon Bimmerworld recommendations for the chassis, and it handled very well, but the body was wallowing through corners so hopefully this stiffens things up for flatter cornering.

Hoping to hit NHMS for an event with COMSC next weekend but my work schedule is getting hectic again so who knows… I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Until then, I’ll be staring at this car thinking about next steps: brakes.

Finally had a chance to take some half decent photos… I need to iron out the kinks with the camera settings to capture all the detail of the BSM paint, but it’s a start. Enjoy!

Really appreciate the oem+ look. One of the few builds I like with the gold 763m's that often times make our cars look like a Subaru with an identity crisis. This does not. Feels classy BMW through and through.

Love the stance on this, too!

Thanks, love to hear this. OEM+ is my favorite style with all of these cars.

The wheels and the stance worked out very well. There is so much adjustment left to utilize if ever needed, but everything looks and drives so perfectly as it sits now.

Our location can be elusive, PA is home base.

Since the car was leveled and corner balanced it doesn’t make sense to raise the rear anymore. The real “issue” is the 20” rear wheel. 285/30 in 19” would get me 12mm of extra clearance in that rear fender arch!

I am kind of in love with the raked look right now though. I still think eventually I’ll try and run a dedicated 18” set up with sticky tires to avoid this issue.

I’ll keep messing around with it! I appreciate the input.

I realized today that I forgot to update this thread with my exhaust! When I was down with the broken ankle I ended up installing an AWE Gen 2 Track Edition exhaust, followed very shortly by the Gen 2 Switchpath exhaust.

The Track Edition was awesome, do not get me wrong. The reality however is that it is insanely loud, and it drones at normal driving speeds/gears. The Switchpath Edition is also equally awesome, but way more practical. Shocking, I know (lol).

I ended up not using the AWE tips for long (I had two sets, one with each muffler) because they had quite a poor fit. The openings of the tips - on the side where they clamp to the exhaust - were ovalized and bent on both sets I had right from the box. The diameters were also 1/2" larger than the exhaust itself, making it near impossible to get enough clamp force on the bolts. At least one tip from each set never fully clamped down and rattled constantly. All of the others moved/rotated over a few drives as well.

So, I did what any good BMW owner would do, and I ordered a set of 4" titanium tips from ECS. They quality and precision was much better than the AWE tips, but to be clear I do not mean this negatively against AWE. I will always go to them for exhaust, and they have always been really great to work with. Plus, their exhaust systems sounds perfect.

In summary, the Sport and Sport+ modes with the Switchpath system are 10/10 for me. It is perfectly loud and rowdy, and the system amplifies what I believe to be is the best sound in the world coming from the S55. I love the rasp and whine, especially at WOT.

After a full season on the OEM rotors and Pagid RSL 29 pads, I decided that something different was needed. The RSL 29 pads are very touchy, with little to no modulation available... they are on or off! I enjoyed this a lot but eventually grew tired of 'over' braking, brake shimmy, and the rotor wear.

So, after a few conversations, I decided to go for a full brake kit upgrade! The combination of stainless lines, floating rotors, and a bigger calipers/pads should help me dial in the feel I want. I also LOVE the aesthetic of big brake kits.

So with all of that, here she is again, with an AP Racing Radi-Cal kit front and rear. The calipers have the ENP finish, and were installed with Spiegler stainless lines and Motul RBF600 fluid. Front rotors are 374x36 and rears are 365x30. I am running Ferodo DS2500 pads now, and have a set of Ferodo DS3.12 for the track season. This should help me get a feel for the system with two different sets of pads.

Of course, it's raining non stop so the pictures really don't do it justice... but I'll get her cleaned up and do another shoot at some point this winter.

Hell yeah
