Anyone know of a good reputable shop to install the crankhub fix in the northern va area? Also what's the going cost in our area for this install? TIA.

RRT Racing quoted 6k. They are pretty reputable but also pretty pricey.

Thanks for that info. Yeah that was a little more than what I expected it to be... but maybe that's just the price of piece of mind...

Is that with them providing the hub itself? Either way, that is double the market going rate is most places....

I was gonna call them, but not now. You could ship your car to Cali for less than that.

$6k is the highest I have ever heard for this. But, it's also RRT, and they have been known to ask the highest ever for a number of services. Their work is great. If you have infinite money and want no issues, that's where I would go. Unfortunately, most of us don't have infinite money.

I too called RRT in late August 2022 and was quoted over 6K. Have used them in the past for Dinan coil over installs and that was reasonable. I believe as another poster stated, they really don't want to do the work, but if asked they are shooting for the moon to make it financially worth their while. They also said hub fix isn't really needed unless you are drag racing your car and down shifting in high RPM ranges. For 6K i decided to look elsewhere as i still wanted the fix just in case. I ended up calling Kies Motorsports after watching a lot of their videos over the years and Kies referred me to Cliff at TDS Motorsports. They are in NJ, about 45 min east of Philly. I took the car up on a Wednesday early am, used Amtrak back to DC and picked up the car early Saturday am. Even with Amtrak tickets both ways and Uber / Lyft to/from train station, and the cost of the hub, I spent about 3K back in September 2022. Cliff answered all my questions in great detail and was easy to work with. They say they have done over 50 of these hub installs on the s55. I bought my crank hub from Kies which is the maximum PSI version developed several years ago. I use the Maximum PSI charge pipes since 2019 and never had an issue so i went with the Max PSI hub fix. For me I had the flexibility to make the trip so if you can consider giving TSD a call. Good luck!

Hey guys, just purchased an F82 and want to make sure my crank hub is in good working order. I dont plan on upgrading or tuning, just want to make sure its not going to blow up. Can anyone recommend a shop in the northern virginia area that can do this?

if you're not upgrading/tuning and keeping engine stock, then no need to address crank hub. Very, very few stock ones have blown up despite what the internet says

are there even any other comparable shops in the area? i'm sure their pricing is based on scarcity of places to go to. regardless, $6k is WILD.

Hi Folks,

Has anyone installed the crank bolt capture from Tuner motorsport?

Its sounds like a more cost effective option for us folks who are staying stock and dont want this catastrophe on our minds..

They just installed a Gintani one-piece crankhub and replaced rod bearings on my car.

I also installed a crank bolt capture. The crank bolt capture just prevents the bolt from loosening thus decreasing the clamping force on the friction discs. If the torque exceeds the clamping force, it will still spin, which is the case with many sch.

Nope, I have a YMB F80 M3. (https://www.facebook.com/reel/863838734889357)
I am not sure the price for anything individual. I had them do rod bearings, custom exhaust, and other maintenance items at the same time.
CBC would be pretty cheap, you can do that in a few hours in your driveway, but only solves half the issue...
