Stock vs BM3 drivability

Does anyone think the stock tune with mdm drives a lot better than a car with with BM3?

I previously had a tuned 2016 that seemed to always cut power with mdm on in 80% of cases. I found myself recently in a stock 2018 competition that just seems to put the power down and mdm doesn’t interfere unless in a slide.

Stage 2 tune on 93 wakes the car up nicely.

Also, get the euro MDM coding and GTS diff coding and that should solve a lot of the MDM cutting issues.

Had this done on my last M4. Was a nice improvement.
I have a CS now so it’s all gravy 😃
I think I’m still going to do the euro MDM again.

Plus a good set of rubbers should solve that as well.

Ah good point on the additional coding
I had the stock US tunes on both

How does the GTS diff differ?

It allows more controlled power delivery.

I had the GTS steering, Diff, Euro MDM. Made a huge difference. Also, GTS trans flash.

I believe CS has the updated steering firmware and diff update, better than GTS since GTS is from 2016. Also, can’t do much more on the trans flash on the CS unless you upgrade to XHP.

It still needs the Euro MDM update which I will do soon.

GTS diff definitely helps the car feel more planted at WOT, esp with the added power.

One thing NOT to do, if you have adaptive dampers but not the competition package, leave those stock. I flashed mine and the car became floaty at higher speeds, definitely unnerving. Flashed it back.

I didnt realize there was a difference in the edc dampers between a competition vs non.
I wonder if that’s why im feeling this car to be a little stiffer than I remember

The differences are not necessarily hardware (struts/shocks) related, it’s the tuning used on different models. Coding CS EDC will give you the better performing and more comfortable EDC tuning regardless of whether they’re on base, zcp or cs struts/shocks.
