issue in lifting s55. stock tow hook bolt doesn't fit.

Hi everyone,

I'm working on installing PS high flows on my 2015 M4 and I found that my tow hook bolt is not the correct size to support the motor. (See picture).

I've read on a forum to get a e36 tow hook but I would like to confirm before pulling the trigger on the wrong part.

All help is appreciated 🙏

Yes, E36 and E46 tow hooks will have the correct thread. Never understood why BMW did it like that...

Old Thread but just in case someone is reading this, my e70 2012 X5 had the same issue, where the thread would only go 2 complete turns. Took my 04 E46 hook and it threaded in all the way. Compared the threads and they were identical. The issue is that the tow hook on the X5 is really fat around the bottom, so it gets stuck on the aluminum part of the engine. If you grind that down it will thread all the way. Just an FYI so you dont have to go chasing E46 hooks.
