Can I get the stock C43 exhaust sound from an M3/M4?

I am in the market for a CPO M4/M3. I had a loaner C43 and it sounded absolutely amazing and didn't even have AMG performance exhaust option.

I am not too familiar with exhausts. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get a similar quality sound without getting a competition package option or spending thousands on Dinan? It'll be great to not void warranty.

Again, I am not looking for anything bonkers, just something comparable to C43.

Exhaust notes are subjective, so my reply is subjective.

You won't be able to replicate the sound of a V6 with a high revving inline six. In my opinion, the c43 has a deeper, throatier note. The Inline 6 in the M3 is a bit less musical, more like a chainsaw - it has more of a Motorsport character to me. For those aggressive Pops and bangs , any M3/M4 with the competition package will make those sounds once warmed up. You can do aftermarket modifications to further deepen the tone, add to volume.

Overall I Think the M3/M4 with the competition pckg sounds even more aggressive than the c43 without the performance exhaust.

Edit: A tune will add burbles, pops and bangs if you want but will void your warranty if BMW catches it. No real way around it. Lots of video samples of different exhaust setups all over the forums.

The main difference between the c43 and non comp f8x is the computer programmed burbles/pops. I’m assuming that’s what you’re talking about. That is a result of the computer being programmed to send extra unburnt fuel into the exhaust at certain times purely to create the sounds. No exhaust modification will help much with that. You can either get the competition package or get a tune (void warranty) if that’s what you’re looking for.

yeah I think M3/4 ZCP sound great, it's just that competition package really narrows my search options.

You cannot make a V6 sound like an Inline 6, that is not possible. The two engines are completely different down to engineering. You can make the exhaust sound deeper as with most cars but the engine note will never be the same.

People get these two confused way too often. There is Engine Noise and Exhaust Tone, don't confuse the two.

Yes you can! Swap the motor from the C43 and install in the M4. Easy Peasy.

you are right, I realize I am being confusing by using exhaust and engine sounds interchangeably which are two different things. I understand that I cannot duplicate the combination of exhaust/engine sound of a C43 (V6) in a M4 (i6). I was just hoping to be able to create a similar quality sound in M4 without having to get ZCP or spend $4k on Dinan which is the only mod that does not void BMW warranty.

I would have gotten a C43 if it wasn't so damn bland looking. I can look past the Burmester crappy quality and MB Infotainment which looks like a iDrive knockoff, but cant get over the insipid and dull look of C43 or even C63.

If you desire a deeper, less raspy tone there are exhaust options out the for you. Don't be fooled, Dinan can also void a warranty as they are not part of BMW NA like Mperformance is. Pair an AA Mid pipe with a Gen 1 AA muffler and you have a crisp deep tone without breaking the bank.

I wanted a certain sound + performance and reliability which is why I got rid of my E90M3 for a W204 C63 AMG.

Let's be clear here - your entire BMW warranty will not be "voided" by adding an aftermarket exhaust or flash tune. What may happen is that if you have a warranty claim, BMW might deny it - but they're not going to deny a claim for an electronics problem if you have an aftermarket muffler and so forth. A lot depends on how your dealership feels about mild modifications and such.
