Currently being reviewed on German TV - GRIP
Well they seem to like it (they also showed a quick clip of the previous V8 so you can get to hear the difference in sound). Should be able to see it all here in the not too distant future:

Watched it. It was great. The testdriver Matthias Malmedie loves the sound of the new M4. He is our german Chris Harris, because he drives every car at the limit and loves to drift the babies

I love it when he goes on the Autobahn in tuned cars- like G Power M6 for example and says ' look what we've got behind us, a Porsche! ' and proceeds to annihilate the unsuspecting driver

For all the ones who don't understand german some short comments... I'm currently at work so I cannot listen to his comments again but I will tell you from what I can still remember.
First of all he was totally happy and smiling as you can see on the Video, whenever he does that you can be sure the car has pretty much everything to be fun. He also was talking about the Sound - the Sound cannot be compared at all with the V8 off course - but as of his thoughts it definitely didn't get worse (well he even liked it pretty much). What he also mentioned is that you have a lot better control and handling of the car compared to the E9x models. He made a checklist to see if the car is worth the M 1. An M is always Independent: his comments were about the power and the agility, thanks to the torque which comes unbelivable earyl and stays very stable to high rpm's the car is always very quick on the throttle - CHECK 2. An M works for the everyday life and is economical: as you can imagine this is much better then the E9x's because of the downsized but loaded engine with an Overall of 8.3 Liters. If you go by the M3 you have even more for your daily life with the additional doors. The passenger on the back cannot complain about the space he's got even though he's 1.80m. The comment I liked the most was about the M Drive Mode, you can store your preferences but if your wife wants to drive it once she can easily set it on comfort and be able to drive it as well - CHECK 3. An M has an aggressive look: well there isn't much to say about it, look at Minute 8 and you'll know what he is talking about. He's absolutely amazed by the M look. - CHECK 4. An M is always ready to race. Check the smile on his face at min 9.57 and you'll know the answer. |

To add a few comments:
He REALLY liked the sound He commented that it was unbelieveable how responsive the engine was (for a turbo obviously). And M division doesn't do anything halfway. This is 100% M !!! There is LOADS more traction at the rear wheels compared to the E9x.
