I don't think the version we have on the F3X/F8X autobrakes. I've never sensed it braking and I've tried to test it out. Do we have any documentation that it does autobrake?

I believe it does. you can even set the sensitivity of it somewhere on your idrive setting. I hope to god you never have to experience auto brakes activating for obvious reasons.

Ok cool, I was going to say! I even checked out a 2015 M4 and it didn't have front view either...sheesh. Talk about spreading misinformation

When I tapped the Black+Brown wire that was part of the front camera, for my V1 GROUND, I got the errors "Collision Warning system malfunction/inactive". As soon as I changed the V1 GROUND to the Black+Brown wire for the mirror compass all problems went away.

I understand that the problem you describe is intermittent, AND you have not performed any mods to your car; however, just wanted to share this experience in case anyone else has faced this problem (READ: Just trying to help my fellow BMW buddies...).

OP, I see a lot of good troubleshooting suggestions here thus far. Try them out. If none of them work and you haven't tinkered with the area around the rearview mirror/front camera, my suggestion is that you take it back to the dealer for them to troubleshoot.
Good Luck,

OK. So I posted on this thread back in October 2015. It's now April 2016 and one of the few times I've had to park outside in 80+ degrees temp with direct light on the front windshield camera and the error fault, like what OP shared, happened again.

Seems like this is now just an "expected" error anytime the above conditions takes place.

Not sure I want BMW tinkering with my camera unless there's a CLEAR FIX for this....

Yep. I had that warning happen a couple of times after i brought it in for a camera replacement. It appears to happen mostly with the sun hits it directly at a certain angle. I changed parking spot so my windshield doesnt face the sun directly and no more malfunction warning faults so far..

Well, I can't believe I've owned my 2016 M4 now for 1 year -- Time truly does fly when you're having fun!
I have only 7K miles on my car so bringing it to the dealer for the "obligatory" oil change (which is included in maintenance for low-mileage cars). They don't reset anything and I'll be expected to return in about 6 months for another oil change.

In addition to this, my service advisory did mention the SIB noted earlier and they will be changing out the part.

Same here, i need to go in for my 1 yr service at 7600miles. Also, My pedestrian/collision warning lights came on again yesterday... Because We have a heatwave. I think its related. They need a part that can withstand the heat.

My car is only 1 week old and my blind spot and lane departure warning system has malfunctioned. Has anyone had this as well?

I had this problem on the day I took delivery and the techs looked at it. There was no fix or TSB at the time, but more recently for my 10k services, there was a TSB and it was replaced and now fix.

This particular issue happened to me on hot days in Cali when the car was parked outside in the hot sun. Would happen almost everytime, but has since been resolved with the replacement they did.

Here's the relevant post:

Can you tell me which part specifically they replaced? Cuz i already had my camera replaced last year and its still happened twice since on very hot days. Just brought my car in to the BMW service last week for service and they said its a know problem and there is no fix. What they said was that there's a TSB at states the equipment can have error faults during " extreme weather conditions"...but no hardware or software fix yet.

Collision Warning System Inactive

I have a 2020 M4 with adaptive suspension and installed Macht Schnell lowering springs. Accidentally broke the drivers side rear leveling sensor arm. I am now getting three errors Frontal Collision Warning System Malfunction, Chassis Stabilization, Daytime Pedestrian Warning reduced. I don't believe any of these errors would be caused just by a broken headlight leveling sensor and wanted to see if anyone had a better suggestion? I really don't want to have to goto the dealer and would like to figure out what could be causing these errors. One thing to note is with the control arm that connects the leveling sensor to the lower sway bar disconnected when I started the car I didn't notice these alerts. I then used JB weld as some posts suggested fixed the broken part on the leveling sensor, reconnected the arm and after I started it back up is when I noticed these errors. Any help or recommendations is greatly appreciated.

Did you ever figure out what was causing this issue?
