Best way to clean dash/steering wheel
Hello!
I just picked up a '17 DCT and the dash has some spot that I best can describe as worn in dirt. Whats the best thing to clean that? Also, the steering wheel is filthy and doesnt seem to want to get clean. Thanks! |

Congrats on the new purchase. Sometimes the best solution is the one with least amount of chemicals such as distilled or DI water. If that doesn't work, you can use something slightly abrasive like an old toothbrush to work out some of that dirt on the dash and steering wheel. But if that still doesn't work, you can move to the leather specific cleaners like saddle soap or any of the plethora of branded cleaners on the market.

I'd recommend Woolite Delicates. 1 part woolite to 5 parts water. I use a bowl and put 1 full cap of Woolite and add 5 full caps of water. Mix/agitate (I just use my fingers). Soak a microfiber rag with that solution and gently wipe the surfaces. It's better to gently wipe the surfaces 10 times to loosen and remove grime/dirt than to use a lot of pressure and scrub 1 - 2 times. Thoroughly rinse out that microfiber rag and wring out most of the water. Use this damp microfiber rag to wipe down surfaces again (gently) a few times. Let surfaces air dry. You should end up with a soft, smooth, non-tacky, matte steering wheel. G/L. Cheers

Late to the thread but I have this in my bookmarks. I have done it once to my new to me 2018 M3 and surprised at how much dirt came off a clean looking steering wheel. https://www.expert-mobile-car-detail...seat-care.html

1.) rub it on your hands to warm up. 2.) Rub it all over the wheel. 3.) Remove with damp, warm microfiber cloth. Youll be very happy trust me. |

On the textured bits such as door panels and dash i used a toothbrush with a small amount of dawn dish soap to remove caked in dirt/lotion then used a damp microfiber to blot clean. I agree with everyone saying use the least aggressive method that works.

So, I have to reply before I can become a full member.
My question for interior cleaning. I just picked up a 2015 F82, and there are spots all over the instrument cluster lens, it looks like someone spayed Armor All in the car and there are etched spots all over the lens. Has anyone anything in mind to get this cleaned up? I tried some mcguires plasticX to see what it would do, and it didn't make it worse, just didn't really help. |

My combination is some Sonax Perfect Finish applied using a Rupes ibrid nano and 1" yellow pad. If you were in SoCal, I could do it for ya.
