Have they disabled comments before? Or is it solely based on the normal reaction to G8x content?
In other news my G80 order has been sitting in the order bank for a while now and BMW just kicked it to a 2022 model but still no allocation. Still on the fence on whether I actually go through with it but as so many other people have mentioned not much else there comparable to an M3. Either new G80 or just keep my F80. |

The M3 used to be the car that was just competent enough for the track, just elegant enough for the opera and subtly tasteful enough for the country club, all while having enough pure go to ward off the stoplight people. In other words, it garnered universal respect. Hell, when Top Gear tested the e92 vs the Prius at full bore (for the Prius) and got better economy in the M3, even the ecocrazies were humbled. Now, it's just a, "you scratched my anchor," bruiser designed for wannabe inatastars screaming, "look at me," as they struggle to keep their heads above the endless wake of everything-looks-the-same condos built upon the Dangerfield that was once the track, the opera, the country club, and in some cases, the stoplights! Is it any wonder BMW is shouting, "I get no respect!"

I agree with everyone but really stuck between a rock and hard place (not really) but I like to believe I am. I like M2s but prefer 4 doors so that is out for me. Ad nauseum on all the other choices so maybe just stick with my F80.

If you have an 18 F80 M3 you like I say keep it. Its by no means a perfect car (exhaust note) but its pretty damn good and gorgeous. I regret selling my 15 F80 to this day.. not so much my M4 lol. Now the cost of entry for an F80 is just too high for me to justify. I cant pay used what I paid new for my 15.

Exhaust note doesn't bother me, I think the only thing that does is what I already stated, boredom. Looking at buying another set of HREs and maybe move from springs to coil overs as well, both of which will renew my interest for a little bit. And I agree the price for entry into an 18 F80 in some instances is more for what I paid new for my 18 which is nuts. |

Unfortunately, I don't think VW will ever go that route. In my opinion it would sell.

Thing is, VW has once built a Mk7 Golf with an Audi inline five. DSG, 550PS and carbon ceramics. Fully working car on normal reg plates. There's one video of it, I'd have to dig it out.

stumbled across this today ... whether you want to listen to it all, do listen to the first 55 seconds as THAT was unexpected ... but overall a great interview:
