getting some engine sputter on light load~ another BMS intake MAF install issue.

hey guys ~

I recently added BMS cold air intake and replaced all six spark plugs with

NGK SILZKBR8D8S (97506) and experiencing engine sputter and some

knock recorded on my log.

It seems MAF sensor not sitting flush with BMS intake on the passenger side.

Will see if the problem gets solved.

Your poor car...

First off did you properly gap the plugs?

Second...where are you getting 93oct in SF Bay Area?

Third...why do you continue to drive it over and over if it's sputtering and you have all those knock events in your logs?

Your data does not show dangerously lean afr...it has a chainsaw engine rpm trend that looks of issues...and knock events at higher rpms which is not good.

I think I may have found the cause. Not the plugs for now ~

The MAF sensor being flush or not has no effect on how it operates as it's a hot film type sensor.

That doesn't look like BMS intake coating though? The BMS intake is glossy and looks like this:

I bought it from BMS ~ the one I bought has a wrinkle finish and has a different name ~

Based on Carrys post , MAF sensor not sitting flush on intake tube sensor hole has a huge impact on M3 M4s

Stock intakes with charcoal delete and drop-in filters works/sounds great and flows plenty to support 7-800whp. I’d try to seat the maf to see if that fixes the issues and if not just switch back to stock.

Still haven't answered a very clear question:

Why are you running a 93oct map in California...you should be on the 91ACN Stage 2 Map.

Lightly sand the sensor housing or intake side where the sensor mounts to so it will sit in flush. Easy fix.

Oh that is the China intake, Phoenix, then. Not a BMS intake. Should come with thinner MAF gaskets you can install on your sensors that mount cleaner.

What???? dude ~ I purchased it from www.BMS.COM~~ not from CHINA COVID ~ long story short ~ MAF was not seating properly like Carry mentioned.
No need for a gasket. Intake works and Im happy with it ~ even if it was made in China ~ although I purchased it from BMS, yeah I get it it wasnt the gloss finished one.
Take a good look at the receipt I attached ~ while you stay away from COVID 19.

Cheers~

Just because it's on BMS' website doesn't mean it's a BMS product. You clearly purchased the Chinese $199 intake. Either way glad it's working with the MAF gasket removed!
