Peaky cars are harder to get consistent times with....these cars are very forgiving me thinks, assuming a good launch and clean shifts.

Ok

Did a very primitive comparison

My car with Akrapovic downpipes only
Turbo is clearly heard

YMB M3 with Akrapovic Exhaust but stock downpipes
no turbo sound.....sad

Your car sounds way better. Deeper and cleaner.

Akra has high rpm rasp and no distinct sound from the titanium you might expect

how are the down shifts? Are you getting a deep blip on the down shifts now? Or still just getting the engine whooshing sound? I would imagine you still have Active Sound activated? This might skew the answer a touch.

What type of connection do the new down pipes have for the exhaust system?

Here is a comparison of the cold start of three cars:

F80 M3-Akrapovic Downpipes-Cold Start (stock exhaust) at 55 seconds, the valves open.

E82 BMW 1M-Akrapovic Downpipes-Cold Start (stock Exhaust)

E90 BMW M3 Akrapovic Full Exhaust-Catless

The E90 is fantastic when you wake her up in the morning. Noisy, with a deep growl.
The 1M bursts to life and is loud for the first minute which is really nice. The sound of the turbos is heard less than in the F80 M3.

The F80 finally wakes up like a proper car. Might just need to keep the Sport + always open

Active Sound is still active.

The blip on downshift is deeper.
The whoosh sound comes up when you accelerate and not decelerate.
On deceleration, I get the lovely pops and crackles.

Finally,
Some nice sounds from the F80.....

nice! I have that as well. I am chasing the deep downshift blips like the previous M3. Now
i know its never going to make same sound as v8 but I'm trying to at least hear the downshifts in the cabin. I think I have no other choice then to get the dps!

glad you are enjoying the set up!

odd. I hear my downshifts fine with stock exhaust with valves unplugged.

the exhaust sound, not the fake enhanced sound which I haven't gotten around to coding out yet

I think the valves have def something to do with it. I'm thinking about Awron but waiting for the firm ware to be released for the electronic valve control before I do it. I guess it's not available yet

Hello,
please how you deal with CEL light from DME? Was looking for weeks for someone who installed akrapovic downpipe on stock exhaust, please tell how more loud it is for daily use? Some droning? Or something like that?
