Just purchased 2018 M3 comp and exec, but no Apple Carplay?

My '18 F80 has no charging pad but Kubax did my full screen no probs.

yeah i think the wireless charging option adds the wifi antenna thus allowing the purchase direct from bmw vs coding.

more info on this antenna please. would this help with my issue of car play constantly disconnecting and reconnecting or dropping itself entirely?

Does your car have wifi? if not you would need an antenna

this makes sense. my understanding is that for MY18 if you ordered the wireless charging option that it came with the wifi antenna. the presence of the wifi antenna allows you to add apple carplay direct from bmw.

everyone else that doesn't have the wireless charge option has to get it coded and install the antenna for optimal performance.

18 ZCP here. Used Easy Bimmer Coding. $35. Sent me a BIN file and I loaded it onto a flash drive. 39 seconds later and I had full screen wireless CarPlay. I was under the understanding all 18 was capable of this. Although, under my armrest I have a little clip and a phone logo.

Dumb question - but should I worry about anything when taking the car in for service if I don't do it direct through BMW?

I have a 2018 F80 that's CPO and has an extended service plan. Would like to add Carplay but sounds like I'd need to install the antenna and do the software update.

Absolutely no issues.
You’ll have a possibility to restore to OEM anytime as well.
