Now that the cat is out of the hat, when will orders open? I'd love to take an ED around my bday July 4th weekend.@GOLFFRR: Any updates on both ED pricing and tentative build start?

I'm in for the group ED trip (if there's one in the works).

Any chance BMW individual would let me order a new M4 in Mexico Blue???

^^BMW indiv is a beautiful thing. David hasn't come across a color yet that he hasn't been able to get approved. I think Mexico Blue would look awesome!

Sometime the colors that get denied can be had but could cost a lot more the std indiv paint request.

Bit of a laggard to this thread, but I'm in for a M4 for ED - I should be able, schedule permitting, to do a day 1 ED based on what my CA sent me and my place in the overall queue for the car.

Look forward to coordinating in the meet up thread like F10 M5 folks were able to.

My current order is Mineral Gray with all options including the CC brakes with the exception of the driver assistance package, but I might cave and add that. I love Space Gray on my current M3, but it doesn't make sense to do individual to get one boring lighter shade of gray instead of another boring darker shade of gray .

Then don't do a boring shade of grey. Step it up to individual and get something awesome that you will love. I'm def doing that. Christ, after CCB ill prob be blowing 75k, so might as well get a color you actually are excited about.. I'm still torn. I love the blues, but I have a blue RS4 so prob can't do blue for another 6-8 yrs. I'm thinking going back to graphite grey.. And Individual leather with contrast stitching (drool). By the time I'm done, my asshole will hurt from BMW raping me, and I'll prob have the most expensive M4 built, lol

Hopefully then production can open up in May, if dealer production starts in April?

^^No idea. One would think but I can't say one way or another at this time. Usually reg allocations roll in roughly the same time frame as the launch cars or a few weeks after. My "guess" would be 2-4 weeks after the launch cars you will start to see the first allocated units rolling in.

no official info on anything has been released to us dealers yet from BMW on anything regarding the M3/M4 besides the launch car spec sheet.

If I am looking at doing an M3 Euro Delivery in September, should the backups / wait list have died down by then?

^^BEst bet would be to put a refundable deposit down at a dealer so you will be locked in.

This ED specialist at Sonnen BMW told me that if ED cars do not come out of dealer allocation there is about a 6.5% price cut.

Is he trying to trick me? ED MSRP is about 6.5% off regardless what allocation it comes out of and ED Invoice is about a 13% price cut if cars do not come out of ED allocation, correct?

Yes there is a discount for ED cars. ED MSRP is ~7% less than US MSRP. Generally ED cars do not come out of dealer allocations, but that is a model to model decision. For example 1Ms ED came out of dealer allocations, so some dealers did not want to honor ED MSRPs.

Could that be due to the fact that the 1M was such a short production run?

If F8x ED cars do not come out of dealer US allocation do I have a high chance of getting ED Invoice +$500 ?

I'm confused - if m3/4 comes out of US allocations for the foreseeable future, i.e. even after initial early adopter hysteria does down, then ED MSRP is what we will pay, rather than x over ED invoice. Now I'm not diminishing forum dealers at all, but if we are paying MSRP, wouldn't it just be easier to use local dealer? I mean sticker price is sticker price so if I walk into Joe Bob BMW who does ED MSRP down the street, what's the advantage of using a forum dealer? Assuming Joe Bob is familiar with ED process obviously

People do ED for the experience, not really for saving $$. However if u are able to get $$$ off than it sweeten up the experience. Because think about it, you save $$, but when u add in air fairs, hotels, gas, and shopping your paying MSRP or even more.

I'm pretty sure M cars have come out of dealer allocation since Fall 2012. (There once was even no ED discount but that ended around 2009 or so.) That being said, that doesn't mean you must automatically pay ED MSRP, you can still negotiate.

June is the perfect time of year to take a trip to Europe and pick up a new car. Don't see much reason to complain as six months will be here soon enough.

What's the insight into a car being in or out of the dealer's allocation for ED delivery? I;m assuming they have full control and it's up them to decide...

Persuasion tactics?

Is there even an "outside allocation" pool for first few months of production?

M4 Cabrio with ED cost

Doing very quick cost estimates on a M4 Cabrio order, both as MSRP and ED MSRP at a low ED discount of 4.4% and a high ED discount of 6.5% (also comparison to Coupe with an ED discount). When decked out this car gets real expensive, real fast - anyone see errors in these numbers? Have not really seen any comment on the full cost of a decked out order which is a more likely option for me - ambivalent re 19" rims and HK which would cut some cost. I had a number in the mid-80's in mind back before they announced the MSRP but this is quite a bit more!
