You can pretty much bet on wheels, suspension tweaks, some new software settings (incl. traction control, throttle, EPS?), and perhaps a slight horsepower bump and exhaust tweaks. I'm hoping the package price won't top $4k.

In the USA we use SAE Hp. In Europe they use DIN PS. http://www.ehow.com/how_5845776_convert-din-hp-sae.html |

Competition Package... patience is a Virtue?
How many of you are patient enough to wait for a Competition Package? The minimal HP increase from the E90 hints that BMW is intentionally holding back. Yes, I know the focus has been on weight reduction and torque increase. But I sense that something is brewing in Bavarian country. The question is whether one can wait an additional 6-12 months for such a wildcard.

I'm trying really hard to wait for the CP and lci. But I don't know if I'll be able to contain myself once these hit the streets. I might have to pick up an e92 to keep me occupied for a while.

Geeez, 3 years???...I doubt it'll be that long. If so, it would settle that question. |

"The minimal HP increase from the E90 hints that BMW is intentionally holding back."
I doubt this is true. The S55 (M3/M4) runs a max boost of 18psi with a 10:1 compression ratio. This is exactly the same as the S63 ( M5/M6). The S63 in competition package guise only has 15hp more than without the competition package. This make me doubt that the ZCP will bring any meaningful hp gain. I guess the main improvments will come in steering and suspension. Also cosmetics as nicer wheels and wheel gap reduction. In summary pretty standard ZCP stuff. Nice but not revolutionary or neccessary. Not worth waiting for IMO. Quality and reliability is another story, that could be worth waiting for. Bigger power to weight gains will likely come in a GTS/CSL type of car. Lighter with more extensive engine rework, maybe bored and with larger turbos. |

Didn't the last Comp pack come out at the same time as the LCI?

LCI will likely be tied to the 4 series LCI, as it was for the e46 and e92 M3 (tied to 3 series coupe LCI)

different point of view:
- many M cars are lease cars. BMW bank / dealers bear residual value risk. - bringing out a comp. pack. with large HP increase lowers residual values of pre CP cars, because most M buyers always go for max. HP. BMW / dealers can not want that. |

yes M4 but the M3 should be tied to the F30 LCI, that is the way the E90 was. That is what I am waiting for and hopefully it is next year. Comp package is probably 4 years out? Basically middle of the m3/m4 run unless the reviews pan it and they need to rush it.

and updated Nav which was the E90 LCI. Only thing they did not update was the front end since it basically was the E92 M3. As a preE90 m3 LCI owner it was decent update on a 1 year old M3.

again, im talking about the m3 model LCI which in both the e46 case and the e9x case (zcp, led tails for all models) happened at the same time as the coupe LCI. 05 for the e46 and 11 for the e9x. this is relevant to when a potential zcp package and LCI will happen for f8x model cars.
