This build is crazy! You should be running at least 18x10.5 or 19x10.5 wheels.

Progress continues…road building the GT4

Found some time over we the holiday weekend to complete the drivetrain and rear suspension upgrades…

The car now has the full spl links, fallline lower control arm, kmp diff carrier with solid bushings, dinan sways, motion control suspension, etc…

There is oem/rubber bushing on the subframe where the inner LCA connect; this is where the camber is can be a well. I understand that Shirmer sells these…may consider that as an addon…

On a separate note, I have been working on my cars on jack stands for over 15 years, including building my last M3 track/race car…was fortunate enough to be able to install a lift (review coming) this past year. Must say, what a difference…made this fairly complex upgrade somewhat of a breeze, with minimal heavy lifting.

Was able to completely drop the rear subframe in 6ish hours from start, including removing the exhaust, under panels, etc…total time to finish was arround 15 hours.

Next…interior prep for cage, seats, etc…stay tuned.

Considering this…may have to start with what I have for now and look to upgrade in the next few months.

Update…

Quick update…

Sent the 2way dampers to MCS for 3way conversion. Have the quick-disconnect on all four corners, so it’s a quick change out…

Meanwhile, progress continues…final rubber bushing to be replaced with millway aluminum bushings in the rear LCA.

The car now has fulll SPL links all around…can’t wait to try it out.

This is so bad ass.

What tracks are you driving?

Looking forward to some video and to hear how much time you gain with these mods. I imagine the aero will help on some of the fast sweepers.

What ceiling heights do you need with that lift. Can I borrow it?

update...

rear-end finally complete...

added millway bushings to the lower control arm...

must say, the investment in the lift more then half way paid off with the work completed to date, plus the efficiency...

Build update...

Two weeks ago, sent in my 2W MCS dampers for an upgrade to the 3W setup. With this, all dampers were services and are ready to go...

Cant say much about the MCS team - superior service and responsive. Have been working with them since Lex/Kent's Moton days...well over 15 years.

Anyhow...this past weekend, I completed the full chassis setup, reinstalled all the dampers, brakes, and torqued every bold/nut

Final Chassis Setup Summary:

- Full SPL links
- FLMS RLCA
- Millway subframe/knuckle bearings
- TMS front bushing
- Dinnan sways
- KMP diff kit
- Upgraded MCS 3W dampers (running 800/700 coilover) springs (may upgrade front to 900)
- AP Brakes

Looking forward to getting the car on the track...will do another pic update now that everything is together.

Meanwhile, I now have all the interion parts...will do a reveal with pics shortly. Goal this weekend is to start with the interior, mostly focused on functional / safety upgrades and get the car to the fabricator over the next two weekends cage. Stay tuned for more...November shakedown track-day??? Lets see...

Your idea for installing the bushings using a bolt is genius!

Mostly SoCal tracks...I very much miss Road America. Spent a lot of time driving there...

The car will be fairly solid and good amount of aero...the real measurement will be at Road America where I can compare before / after. Plan to do OctoberFast there in 2022.

Garage ceiling is 10'. After 15 years using jack stands, pretty much built my E46 M3 race car on jack stands...the lift is a #blessing for sure...

Do you happen to have the product link for the retrofit bracket for the GT4 wing? I'm looking to do the same on my F80.

GT4 M3 Edition continues...

The fun with the build continues...

Took a bit longer to complete the chassis upgrades / setup...with all the links added, took some time get everything properly angled, torqued, etc.

The corner balance / alignment took quite time as I started with the/camber toe all over the place...

Anyhow...happy to say the this phase of the upgrades/build are complete...on to the interion starting next weekend #letsgo

Finally...got to drive the car

3 or so months into converting car to track duty, it has been a fun journey working on the F80, the E46 chassis now seems so much simpler and less complex.

I can finally say that I have completed all the chassis work, some things definitely took longer then anticipated; but enjoying the process of putting my second track car together.

I got a chance to drive the car this pat weekend, did a few spirited canyon runs and tweaked the suspension a bit to take out the stiffness/bounce. The solid chassis (no rubber bushings anywhere) created very little NVH and I must say, I love the KMP diff carrier. Instant power to the wheels...and did I mention, race car sound

The 3W MCS's running now running on 800/700 springs along with dinan sway's felt awesome. I can imagine instant transitions on the track...

Next...

I have already started to strip the interior, and will be doing a fabricated 1/2 cage, seats and few other items. More on the interior starting this weekend...

I got a few PM's in regards to the cost of the build, I will post a summary shortly and continue to update as it goes along.
