4 Pin Crank Hub Install
I just got quoted a special price of 3500 out the door to install a crank hub, just was curious as to what normally everyone pays for a crank hub + install. What rates have you guys paid / heard of?… Thanks!

If that is them doing it the correct way then yes it is a fair price. By that I mean removing the oil pan to ensure no metal shavings make it into the engine. A lot of these DIY guys will try to put a piece of cardboard with grease on it under the crank to catch the shavings because it saves a lot of time. Labor for the correct way should be around 20-25 hours, labor for the lazy shade tree mechanic way should be 12-15.

That's a fair price for a hub fix done right. Make sure you put a CBC on top.

I got quoted 2,000$ for parts and labor with the spline lock V2 crank hub + CBC. No drilling into your crank required but Ima swing $1,800 cash and 100% upfront

I was told depending on the aftermarket CH, some require you to drop the oil pan and some do not. For example the Carbahn I was told is easier to install than the Maxpsi as the Carbahn version does not require you to drop the oil pan but the MPSI version does. Is there any accuracy to this?

Make sure you are comfortable with the shop doing the work as the cheapest price isn't necessarily the best deal. There are specialized tools, seals and even single-use bolts that are replaced to do the job correctly.
A Crank Hub + CBC replacement is roughly 20 hours. Some shops will report same-day turnaround time, but most likely aren't torquing bolts to spec (just zapping things into place with impact guns) or performing shortcuts in other areas to get the job done as quickly as possible. This isn't a race, this is an area in where care & experience counts.

$2300 cash installed by Vargas themselves. Also heard studio RSR in SoCal does the Vargas solution for $1999

Exactly. Studio RSR will do 2000 installed parts and labor. Never heard anything bad Coming out of their shop for crank hubs. They torque everything to spec. They are just efficient and have done so many it's second nature. They talk highly of the V2 Vargas vs the competition. Really good group of guys met them. If EAS is willing to meet at that price on the terms of 100% cash up front I'll go there. But due to forum rules I'll wait for a DM.

i just got quoted $4k total for a 4 pin crankhub out here in Chicagoland. took my F80 for an oil change and figuring out a weird issue i had and the guys seem very professional and know what they’re doing. mechanic told me they’ve done tons of crankhubs already and they had nothing but F8x’s outside the shop. i’m most likely going to do it this summer, the shop is Performance Eurowerks in Elk Grove if you’re interested.

That’s what I paid. Comes with fresh gaskets on the oil pan and valve cover. Considering those are about 1k jobs on their own. It’s not too bad.

I recommend you check other places but ensure you only check top-rated shops. This is not an easy job and must be done right, or it will lead to catastrophic problems. EDIT: I just realized this question was from 2021

I see here some owners who don't care about changing the oil and if about mounting a keyed crankhub, interesting... |

These guys are in Boynton beach, Fl. They install the insane performance one piece hub. They did the hub in my M2C. I honestly chose that hub because it’s the only one solid piece in the market. And I’ve heard stories of the other brands. Do your hub the right way. Don’t be cheap and cut corners and half ass the job.
