July 2019 update yet BM3 flashed on my 2018?

I have F020-19-7-539 on my 9/17 build 2018 F80 ZCP, and Bootmod3 unlocks and flashes without a problem. I can even flash GTS things with THOR. My car has been flashed and updated a few times in it's life.

Was it ever established how BMW locked DMEs? Hardware after 3/19 production maybe?
If Bootmod3 says flash completed/successful it worked no questions asked I assume.

i believe its been proven that the newer isteps only cause a problem on newer production cars. I dont have the date off the top of my head but my 2015 m4 is running the latest istep with bm3 no issue. I think it was something circa 2017 but dont quote me on that.

Just wanted to post an update from my experience updating the istep on my car.

2018 M3 Competition- production date 09/17

Istep updated from F020-17-07-502 (iDrive L) to S15A-20-11-534 (iDrive W)

I was concerned about my DME getting locked out, but happy to report that I was able to unlock and retune with BM3 with no issues. I took a chance based on the previous post about the March and newer updates potentially affecting vehicles produced after a certain 2017 date.

I have 2019 M4 (F83 with ZCP) and Bootmod3 would get to 86% and then fail. Only way to flash is with a "bench flash" which means shipping the ECU or taking it to authorized distributor.
