Quick update; did some datalogging and then Bend Calibration sent over some fresh calibrations. Currently running strong on 50% ethanol. Car is a little beast and I'm pretty happy. I gapped my OE plugs at .020 and have my extra set of plugs ready to drop in whenever. I will be looking to increase ethanol content shortly.

Continuing to bump up the ethanol content and now at 59%...getting faster through every increase. I'm really happy with everything so far and my wife is happy she can fill it up with 91 or E85 and won't have to reflash it.

Yessir, slap those PS2's on and shoot Ian a message...he won't have any issue dialing them in. I'll be on some upgraded turbo eventually.

Commanderwiggin how you tuning towards MBT since you are remote tuning? This would apply for both pump and e85 fuelling tunes? IMO that would be a lot of back and forth with the tuner adjusting torque and timing targets then monitoring knock.

Any insight would be great..

PS: thanks for the updates

My tuner has been tuning cars for over 15 years so that experience pays off. He's also done extensive tuning on his own F80 so he knows the limits already of the stock turbos and secondly I'm still running a decently conservative tune imo and I'm not driving the turbos hard during the midrange like most seem to do. My tune is biased more towards flat torque which is my preference, however it's hard when the turbos are already at their max capacity on pump fuel. I will eventually have a turbo upgrade on the car but for now we'll see what we can get on the stock ones. I'll have the car on the dyno once everything is perfect so we can see what we've settled on for the stock turbos. My tuner and I email back and forth often during this process and I have a nice, safe loop to do datalogs and provide feedback. There are a lot of custom tables/features with the Ecutek Racerom that are constantly being tweaked and different/new control strategies are in play than your typical BM3 setup so that's what we're playing with right now...so far I'm impressed.

Brought the content up some more:

Didn't notice much difference as we've been at the limit of the turbos for a while but it's nice to test the calibration and ensure it runs through the whole range properly. Burned through 2/3 of a tank and filled it up with 91. New blend is around 38 again so my wife can daily it for a bit.

Given that I've been a part of the beta software and the initial racerom release...and apparently I was the first to install the ethanol content sensor with Zeitronix ECA2; I've had about 15calibrations pre-racerom and 35 with racerom so far at varied ethanol contents. I've also been helping test quite a few custom strategies which has gone extremely well. So about 50 total on my car testing...this would not be the norm on other cars imo since I've built a great relationship with my tuner over the years and we're paving the way with the development. My tuner recently installed the ECA2 on his car and has been testing the ethanol side of things on his car as well so all of that development will carry over to mine as well as the other customers he's been tuning.

Overall I'm extremely happy with the calibration as cold start, throttle, E85 Flex, custom roadcourse mapping, boost control and more are all dialed...best part is my wife has been driving the car flawlessly for the past week and loves it.

Rolling Launch - Likely in a future racerom release but I haven't confirmed. This option would only be requested with large turbos imo since even the pure's spool so early, wouldn't be much of an advantage in my opinion. I have rolling launch in my big turbo M3 and rarely use it.

Cold Start Delete - I believe this can already be done; I haven't requested it since I don't mind waking the dead on first ignition.

Trans Tune/Clutch Pressure Adjustments - Likely in a future racerom release but I haven't confirmed. I'm hoping this is high in their priority list and I might start an inquiry on this item in the coming months.

So I forgot to add this a couple weeks ago. Ecutek has on the fly map switching in addition to on the fly torque targets. Works instantly, while the car is running/driving. It's pretty silly to see how it feels without the car building any boost with a 50% reduction as an example but yeah. The other unique thing is the ethanol content flashes on the hp meter (% of the scale)...I had around 30% ethanol at the time I recorded this video. Just a few more examples of Ecutek taking full control of the car.

Not sure what user functions you're asking about. Map Switching/Torque limits are user selected options currently. Everything else is developed by the tuner and can be customized based on your input.

From memory in one of the early promotional vids they were going to release some user definable settings. Similar to bm3.

What they were I cannot remember I will need to watch the vid again and see.

Otherwise thanks for the updates

They do plan to release more options like launch control but currently you can only select map or torque limits (in car or through the ecuconnect app)

See this video for EcuConnect as it currently is setup.

Ecutek also recently announced at SEMA that their software will allow live tuning so that will make it even quicker for tuners to make calibrations as it won't require a flash for every change. The BMW live tuning isn't supported yet but should be offered later as they build it for every platform. Currently only GTR is supported.

Live tuning and flex fuel are two major game changers for our platform. Shame it is on the tail end of the life cycle of the S55 but assume it can be applied to the B58 which has a longer life span.

In my experience and especially with the BMW side of things, the aftermarket usually starts getting good near the end of the production cycle of an engine/platform. I believe this is due to vehicles coming off warranty and the affordability in addition to time for development. I would say this is "just the tip".
