Sorry but by far this is one of the worst!
Our rendering artist can't just "make out" what it looks like by just taking off the camo.BMW camo's have gone very clever these days in doing its job..disguising!There's much more than just swirly stickers, there's also fake body panels underneath that hides the real curves really well. Anyway, a nice try. Thanks! You keep our dreams alive and keep dreaming... |

Why does the car look so bloody long? I'm interested in the length, seriously. These renders look like very slightly smaller 6 series BMW's.

Don't do it BMW!!! Don't get rid of the M3 name!!!
Oh my lord please no. They are changing the m3 lagacy and naming it m4? Not only are they making a mistake by changing the name, they are following Audi now with the s"4". I hope this is untrue. I don't know if I'll ever feel the same about them...

Front fender styling (not yet known what the M4 fender will feature) aside, anyone still think the render was that far off?
Bottom two photos are from our recently posted pics of the 4 Series production model.

From the side, it doesn't look very different from the E92. And if it has the same tail lights as the 3 series then I'll be pretty disappointed.
Nice info though Jason as usual!

As I ponder the new M3 and M4 the disappointing thing for me is that if interested in the M4 (specifically a 2 door coupe) I will very likely be paying more for a car that will cost less and be nearly identical otherwise.
More "clever" BMW Marketing here with the M4. The car may offer some exterior colors, interior trim or other options the M3 won't have. Other than that and the door count of course the cars will be identical. The extra doors in the M3 will probably mean it will actually cost more to manufacture than the M4. Last but not least I also expect a few dozen lines of code in the ECU to be different in the M4 (more boost) which will provide more power (of course at very near to $0 of cost for BMW). Perhaps the M3 will come in with just a bit more power than the E92 (as rumored here on the forum) than the outgoing M3, say 430-ish whereas the M4 will be bumped up in the 450-ish range. Thus those who want a coupe are going to have to pay quite a bit more (I'd guess $7k minimally), will get a less expensive car to produce with a bit more power. I find this scenario/prospect very displeasing. Am I right here, totally off base??

I hope he isn't right. I don't see any reason why "my M3" sedan should be underpowered compared to "your M3" 2-door coupe model (which is then called M4). Does the M6 have a power tweak over the M5 ? No. |

Even though higher model numbers most often have more power than the lower model numbers this is a solid counterpoint that I know but did not have in the forefront of my mind when thinking about possible M3/M4 scenarios.
The rumors of the new M3 having close/similar power to the outgoing model along with the observation that BMW WILL be charging substantially more for the M4 over the M3 just has me thinking. For reference the M6 is about $16k more than the M5 (and again almost for sure costs less to manufacture)
