On the pricing front, I was actually negotiating on a cheaper car with the smaller S style wheels and the black plastic wheel arch trims. It was 91k and I offered $78k, saying a friend had just paid $80k for a $92k car in July - which was true. They came back at 80k and wanted to mark up the Porsche rate from 7.24% to 9.24% and I said look $79k and I'd walk if rate were marked up. They came back at $78.9k and Porsche rate. The discount was exactly 12.99999%. I then said could you do the same discount on the one with the larger wheels (cars were substantively identical) because I stumbled on that one during the process and they said yup (I say stumbled because neither car was on their site but both were on the Porsche website - weird bc sticker suggests it was a May 2024 production - so it's not that new to dealer lot). So the same discount came out to $81,440.87 on a $93,610 car. I think Porsche is throwing trunk money to the tune of $5k per car. These cars start at something like $10k higher than last year and they are sitting. I think I posted further up about all the punched cars within 500 miles of LA. 90 Cayennes with under 50 miles marked as used on Porsche finder but listed as new on dealer sites. Tried to get one from Newport and they never got back to me. Car was punched 08/31/24. In sum, given invoice of $83,780, with 5k trunk money, dealer made $2600 and moves on to hopefully get 911 allocation.

On a semi related note about Porsche, my current pick is a 981 Boxster Spyder. Drove my friend's 981 GT4 when it was new and just didn't think the car was that interesting due to long gearing in normal driving. It was however, one of the most confidence inspiring cars I've ever driven and insanely fun when you have room to push it. I just think the 981 BS would be such a good balance, because it would provide top down drama at slow speeds.
Having said all that, I have to say that the M4 GTS is INSANE value at the moment. I know it's kind of apples vs oranges, but this one with only 12k miles, carbon buckets and knuckles done at $75k is crazy to me: https://www.corsagalleriallc.com/det...w-m4/106381672 I don't think there's anything from Porsche at $75k that touches the GTS for a "weekend" car. I'm completely blown away by mine (even though it's losing value daily )

RL is good for their OCD level DIY write-ups. Lots of OG’s are still around; but man some do get carried away with correcting each other. Even my gt3 box can grind second if not warmed up properly, however the gt4 grind was easy to duplicate. I think it has to do with the drivetrain layout. Some guy posted about the pocket trick & it really worked for me. Never had a grind again during the yr that I owned it.

I remember in the bierman interview when he referenced himself as the guy “spending all of the money”. Bmw is not making a street-able track car with a cage like this again. Now I need another car. |

How is the engine in the base model? I have the prior gen Cayenne S and love it but have never driven the base model to compare. |

When you look at the list of stuff they threw at it, it makes the CSL's look kind of pedestrian compared to a base model: 1) Water injection 2) Adjustable aero 3) Factory coilovers 4) Factory roll cage 5) Optional carbon wheels 6) EU only fixed carbon buckets 7) Still has CF driveshaft 8) Standard carbon ceramics 9) Titanium muffler I went into the test drive thinking it would be a faster F82 and I was dead wrong. This truly is a case of where the car on paper might not look that different, but in reality, it's not even the same car. it's an M with no soft edges, and the only car I can think of that's like that is the Z4M. It's very much a one trick pony, but boy do I enjoy it. Not that this matters, but I've never received more thumbs up or complete strangers wanting to talk about the car.

Btw this is for everyone but has anyone received an email for in person study from Porsche? Have you done it and how did it go?

WRT the carbon ceramic brake pads on my F80 I had to push slightly harder for the same braking power but full on hard stops felt the same. On my X3 the carbon ceramic brake pads felt identical to stock.
For a street driven car there are zero downsides and basically eliminates 95% of the brake dust while lasting a lot longer than stock pads. |

Will be changing my brake pads to iSweeps next weekend though. The dusting is nuts, more so than the F80. Plus one of my rear pads delaminated from the parking brake after a rainstorm…just make sure you dry them well after washing.

Picked up the Cayenne yesterday! Flight from LAX was 22 minutes early, Lyft driver was a little late, but I was in and out of Porsche San Francisco in about 25 minutes and on the road back south. With stops for In-N-Out and coffee, total drive time was about 6 hours 40 minutes. Back down south just in time for the tail end of the sunset.
The adaptive cruise/cruise and safety features were all dead for about 200 miles - but that was due to me putting the radar detector in the wrong place. Once I figured that out and moved it, all was good. Love the car, incredibly solid, stable and stout. Smells and feels like a Porsche. Will say I probably would recommend the 18 ways over the 14, but they are still very comfy. I just think they are too couchy feeling. Infotainment is nowhere near as good as iDrive. Not having a scroll feature sucks. I do very much like how when you change to a new XM station it defaults to the start of the then-playing song. That's pretty cool. Also love the Turbo wheels. The RS wheels are indeed the coolest looking, but they are so overdone (on nearly every car) and harder to clean, so very happy with these. Most importantly, Mom loves the car and the trunk area is bigger than she thought so she's happy about having that space. Some minor additions likely coming - bronze sport pipes, all weather mats and the plug in for the trailer because apparently this is sold separately at Porsche - go figure. Car goes in for front tint and ceramic on Tuesday! A mini road trip compilation...

Thx!
I know! I think it was only bugs. Now it's all greased up bc I spent about an hour going over all the black plastic with the protectant I use (Black Wow - imported by the guy who does my coatings). It works great and lasts very long. Best to do when car is new. There are some minor surface scuffs too I think. Car wasn't in best lighting at pick up, but paint meter was uniform and in the high 4s to low 5s, which is what I was most concerned about. Hopefully, it doesn't need too much correction!

Another great day driving the canyon except for the speeding ticket. I got a break according to Sedan_Clan. Pardon the photobomb behind the SRS. Coded two other cars before the drive. Love the Dakar Shade Green.
