Bad
Sounds bad compared to the E9x M3s.... Sorry to be another hater but that's just how it is imo. Also, there is no nice induction noise like on the E60 M5 or the E9x M3, where you knew already from far away what is about to come down the road.

I'm getting excited and I thought I wouldn't. Just don't/won't know how much until reveal and some comparos. At THIS moment it doesn't make me wanna turn my back on my M3.

We should stop comparing it to the e9x m3 sound. Otherwise it will always sound like a Honda civic street racer.
Otherwise good to see it running hard and charging in those turns. I'm sure the final exhaust will minimize some of that rasp and burping.

I'm sure it's a wonderful car, but so far I'm not tempted to give up my current M. I have yet to drive an Fxx that I felt a connection with. But I've been proven wrong many times before.

This m car hugs the road like none in its class. Wow! Hey was the the Lexus RCF following it a few second into the video?

There isn’t much I love more than my s65 (don't let me girlfriend see this), but the more I see, the more I like. With the nomenclature transition of the flagship from M3 to M4, I think the M division has a lot of pressure and isn't going to fail. From a performance standpoint this car will easily exceed the current e9x M3 by a large margin, just like the e46 to e92 transition. If it can retain the visceral emotions of its predecessors – I’m sold.

I'm not sure how many people have heard the F1x M5/6 in person on a track that complain about the current exhaust noises. For certain, it'll be awhile before the induction/exhaust noise of the S65 is beaten. However, the M5/6 sound great from the outside.
The S63tu "fart" on upshifts sounds far deeper and menacing in person compared to videos. The Chris Harris review of the 4 concerns me far more about where BMW is going than what the S55 will sound like. I'll frankly try to be knocking on the door at the Welt for the first ED of the F82, as much as I love my E92 - it's progress to be embraced. |

Don't forget BMW may introduce an iconel performance exhaust. Who knows what tonal blend that may produce. But yeah, the induction noise is missing.

I'm sick of people complaining about the exhaust! We live in an ever changing world! First gay marriage, now turbocharged M cars. Whether you like it or not, it's not changing, so get over it!

I think the poor exhaust sounds may be attributed to a poor recording device (camera phone or what not). If my stock 335i f30 exhaust note is any indication, i can assure you the f80/82 will sound just fine.
This car is planted to the track. It's flat around corners. I am intrigued! Com'on M4, make me a believer again! |
