The M4 and M3 will share the same platform, engine, trasmission, suspensions, exhaust, and almost everything except the external body, lights, an maybe some interior desing or optional.
I bet the maximum width between the back wheels is the same on both cars. The standard 3er have a smaller body than the 4er and it needs to have wider fenders to fill the gap between the normal and the M platform.

I don't know if i like more the M4 or the M3. To me the sedan looks cheaper than the coupe, i have that feling even on the 6er, and i'm not considering the price ofc.

Kind of ironic that the M3 looks more M3 than the M4...

No.

If you compare an F30 front and this F82 you'll notice that the lights and the grills are completely differents.
The sedan shares the front with the coupe, like the E9x did, but it's less evident.

I was thinking just the same thing. You can really notice the different angles of the rear fender and door in the first few pictures.

Interesting that this now has chrome grills. The concept M4 had black which we obviously all like more. Easy switch but easier if they just come with black...

I definitely like this car much more than the M4.

Your right! I dont think I would of noticed for a while has you not mentioned it. One thing I hated about the F30 was the headlights, the 4 series headlights are so much smoother looking and much more graceful. Makes the F80 SO much better!

Looks like a modern version what the E46 M3 would of looked like if they'd made a sedan. Fantastic pitbull-esque stuff and I'm glad I've got already got some money down for one of these.

Dude this thing looks like a beast.

But the e90 looks beefier than the e92 already and shares the front. Why are people surprised about this?

Black sedan m3 FTW. lol

If its coming out next summer i need supercharger now.

Looks good.
TO SCOTT: I hope that BMW will not indulge in an M3 Grand coupe. Better, a wagon M3 that will delight many people including me.

Very much agree. The bulge looks to end really sharply at the door joint. The bulge should have transitioned a bit onto the door. That sharp transition looks very awkward and out of place.

Love it. Minus them going back to halogen turn signals. Gotta save something for LCI.

Compare that to the 3rd image in the series.
Sparkling graphite and space grey were both M and non-M colors.

It's definitely mineral grey. My F30's paint looks just like that and mineral grey owners will agree.

This is looking very good, good balance between a dynamic and an agressive look.

THIS!!!
I was excited, and liked the initial looks, then it sank in.

The M4 looks sexy, complete, and aggressive.
This M3 looks very odd at the rear door line where it meets the fender. I also don't care for the roof line, too bulbous.

sorry for another bitcxting, but the M3 gene will get dilluted to all these other models using the same engine etc...
After all, BMW with M6 and gran coupe and etc with M version are no different from AMG line (CLS, C, E, S, ML G) using same engine and going same "63" line... same with Audi's S (currently 3.0T or 4.0T engine in S4,A7,S7,S8 etc)

Another reason why E9X generation M3, and especially the S65 will hold its M value for long time
