Thanks for posting, I got a good idea of how this car sounds on recordings now. My expectations on the exhaust sound remain very low but I'm still hoping for a somewhat positive surprise in real life.

I am one of those "S65 with the right aftermarket exhaust is pure heaven sounding" guys here on the forum. These videos to me sound much better than many prior ones we have seen. It definitely sounds like it has some of that good old E46 M3 rasp which I quite liked. The problems are that it is under no load and likely on a warm up cycle...

It has a kind of flat, hard, metallic sound at idle (not a warm, mellow and bassy sound). Perhaps designed to sound that way as it kind a sounds a bit more hardcore/race, like a F430 at idle (NO, it doesn't sound the same as a F430 )... F430 at idle doesn't really sound all that great, but once it gets moving... Revving it, seems to create some rasp and mean sound |

Never realized stock Porsche could sound so quiet. No lies, my GTI (stock) is louder than that. Damn. Buying such expensive cars and having to immediately fork over another $10k, just for a decent exhaust must hurt. WTH happened to us?

I'd be willing to bet that all of the crappy (of course JMHO) sounding N'Ring videos we have seen and heard are using a production exhaust. Again, not to beat the dead horse but one should not get too excited over cold start and no load vs. reality...

I own a GTR and e90 with modified exhause and DP's. I6 Turbo's sound raspy, they are meant to be that way. The GTR sounds similar to the video up top just a little louder.

Yes, that is correct. And on the drive noise we also need to listen to the car in real life. But this is probably the first real cold start and revving videos. And those sounds are also part of the picture (or "reality"), in addition to the driving noise

Christ that sounds terrible. Its the only thing I hate about the new M3/4. Exhaust designers have their work cut out.

Enjoy? It sounds unbelievably bad! Sounds just like some ghetto car coming around the corner. I hope that it sounds better in person.

I can see why people are comparing it to the E46 M3. But the E46 was more raspy and had a much higher pitch.
Hopefully aftermarket exhaust/downpipes will help it out. It does sound weed wacker-ish. |

Yikes. Sounds like an 80's Civic ricer. At least there's active sound!

Unfortunately I can't side with those who like it. The N54/5 sound is better from what I can tell.
This sounds like a playing card in bicycle spokes, a bit too clicky. However I can sense a hint of S85-like moan, and I like that. |

Posted before, but gives a broader perspective of the sound while on a track.
