Dealer showed me an M4 with ceramics that has a sticker of $90k! OMFG! He showed me another one reasonably equipped for $75k. I think I'll wait 3 years until the expensive ones roll around for the same price as the cheap ones. I can't believe you can add $25k in options. That's practically at the price of my '11 997 turbo and can't come remotely close to the performance.

We are talking about a hypothetical build, a "base" model which includes leather. You're saying an 80k "base" car should have leather, this is not an 80k "base" car. But if you only added leather, then yes, you would have leather on a car for roughly 71k, much less than this magic number of 80k you came up with. |

Again, I ask you to show us how to configure an M3 or M4 to $80K out the door with CA tax that you can't have full leather.

I have never regretted taking any option with any of my cars. I have always regretted not taking the ones I didn't take. So with my next car -which will be an M4- I'm getting every single option, except CCB and "Concierge". I will probably regret that I'm not getting CCB, but it's just too expensive.

With me, I really love the full leather I don't have, and I hate the lights I do have. The car was not optioned by me though. A thing that drives me insane. Still love my Peter II but fuck I hate dealers.

So you went from talking about a "base" model for 80k (you do realize a base model is generally a stripper, right?) to talking about a customer adding options to the car... that's directly contradicting your exact argument. Thank you for defeating yourself, someone had to. (from 7% to 10% is ~2k raising my calculation to $73,205 for a "base" with leather) |

I regret getting adaptive suspension. Comfort mode isnt more comfortable it's just more bouncy/floaty. I pretty much leave the suspension in Sport 99% of the time. I wish I had spent the $1000 in the drivers assistance package instead

I can go from sport to comfort on these roadways and feel a notable decrease in sharp impacts, "edges", and discomfort. Now it doesn't become a 5-series or 7-series, and it's still not smooth, but it makes a difference. And it's immediately noticeable in those conditions.

So I'd say it's pretty possible to build an m3 under or over $80k without full leather. Maybe I mis-read somthing - was the argument that you can EASILY build an m3 for under $80k OTD with full leather? If so, yes, that's correct. I've got a $66.5k m3 with full leather in front of me right now

Very Very good post Sir, especially for those of us who haven't ordered their cars.
Given the fact that many of the options I had on my E92 are standard on the new car makes it an awesome starter. However, on the E9X M3 at the time of my order CA and PDC were stand alone options which are must haves for me. To get these I am forced to go with Exec Pack. LEDs are something I know I will regret not getting. So here she is: M4, AW, 6M with Silverstone Extended Leather Exec LEDs M Suspension 19" Silver Wheels (Never liked black wheels) HK Rear Shade MSRP: 77,025 + plus our lovely WA State Tax

I don't think 2sporty is intentional trolling. He made his original, generalized statement without taking a look at the pricing guide, and we pointed out to him it is not true. It appeared that he had to keep defending his statement but unable to show us how he would configure a car to $80K OTD without Full Leather. I guess it is because he can't. And if he did, we would point out that he has other options ahead of Full Leather and invalidate his original statement. A better approach would be to just study the pricing guide, realized it is possible, and say "yes, you actually can include Full Leather in an $80K OTD car. Thanks!"

One thing I would absolutely 1000% do is get the 18" wheels. They look so much better than the 19s. I think it's one of the best designs BMW has ever had on a wheel and it makes the tires look beefy and sporty.

Yes, the key fob is unnecessarily large. When I have it in my tight ass jeans, it looks like I have hip tumor, or some weird ass penis.
