BTW awesome thread. I can't get enough of watching these videos.
Nice, Homestead is an underrated fun course imo. Been like 5 years since I've been there w/ my E90, also running RS29 + NT01. And full Akrapovic, which I can still remember ringing off the Nascar walls.

E90 in street + track spec was an all-time car. Pulled with the Akra & tune as well. Miss that thing!

That looked like a really solid lap, nice car control throughout.

Certainly got my moneys worth here, glad I checked them. Actually was going in to fix the parking brake, which is so simple, yet confusing.

Yeah, those seem done to me :0

While I have ya'll looking at brake pads, mind checking these PFC08's out? Thickness seems fine, but how bout those cracks? Any concern there?

I'll take spares with me, but heading to the Glen for first time in May, and I'd really like not to be introduced intimately to any of the walls.

I'm getting decently fast, turning a consistent ~1:33 pace at NJMP Thunderbolt as a frame of reference for anyone who is familiar with that track.

Thx

I've had the same issue with PFC 08, bimmerworld has been great at sending new sets but might switch to pagid.

In my communications with PFC they are redesigning the pad.

Ya, you guys have overheated the PFC 08 pads. Try a higher temp pad like the hawk dtc-70/dtc-80, PFC 01.

Are you on oem rotors? A high quality 2piece racing rotor with a high # of vanes will help lower disc & pad & fluid temps...

Yep, OEM rotors. I have a fresh set of DS1.11 waiting to go on next, first time trying those out

PFC 08 go to 800°C; Ferodo DS1.11 go to 700°C

Looking at max pad temps alone, the Ferodo DS1.11 should be worse than the PFC 08. Alternatively, the DS3.12 has a max temp of 850°C. Hawk & Carbotech & G-Loc (very similar to Carbotech, started by a Carbotech family member) all have higher temp range pads which u might be interested in!

Thank you! Is there a particular pad you would recommend that you have personal experience with? Thanks !

These look marginal to me. My trigger to replace track side is when the pad material reaches the backing plate thickness, so your pads are almost there. For the Glen, I'd rather go with a fresh set than with these. WGI is pretty tough on brakes.

I've had pretty bad experiences with Pagid with pads shearing off the backing plate entirely. The pedal goes to the floor when that happens, not a fun experience. The Pagid seemed to be fine for many years when they were labelled as RS29, the issues for me started when the changed the name to RSL29, so it has me wondering if they changed anything on the pad material/construction. Went back to PF08 and they've performed flawlessly.

Curious, are you guys running with DSC/MDM to cook your brakes like that?

Actually, no. I've been full DSC-off for the whole previous season and then some.

I am sorry, the DSC/MDM question was really for fanatic1, his brakes pads look really toasted. Your brakes pads look perfectly fine to me, just worn close to the point of needing to be replaced. The cracking is normal, it is the result of of quick thermal expansion and is not an issue (at least has never been for me) as long as they don't crumble.

Mods:
- Pilot Sport Cup 2: AMG GT R spec F (275/35/19) and Ferrari 458 Speciale R (305/30/20)
- GC camber plates
- Non-functioning water injection
- Street ride height/settings

Front axle grip is so good, but was having lots of issues with corner entry and mid-corner oversteer, making me less confident in attacking corners. With water injection, suspension set up in track mode, and some rear axle adjustments, under 1:20 should be do-able.
