Check out retrofitmybimmer. Spoke with them a couple of weeks ago. Looks like around 1400. Pre coded to your vin and is plug and play. My next mod.

Hi, I did the full ID4 > ID6 conversion.

This is what you need for the best experience:
- ID6 Harman headunit coded to your VIN. There are multiple vendors on this board that can do it for you. I used Retrofitmybimmer (Rob)
- Wireless antenna. This gives you the fastest, most stable wireless CarPlay connection. While you could technically use Bluetooth, the connection is poor and bandwidth is too low for this to be viable
- Optional: upgrade your 8.8" screen to a touchscreen. This technically isn't necessary but it's a really nice functionality to add.
- iDrive controller: while technically optional this really should be upgraded to the LCI version to have correct button mappings

The coding to the iDrive unit can either be done remotely or by the vendor at time of purchase. I chose to have the vendor code it so that way when I got everything and brought it to a custom shop, everything was truly plug and play.

I can't recommend this upgrade enough. Let me know if you have questions.

Here's some common questions I had with answers:

Q: will ConnectedDrive still work?
A: Yes

Q: Will I still be able to use GPS for BMW navigation?
A: Yes

Q: Will I still be able to use SiriusXM?
A: Yes

The vendor will also code it to support video in motion and screen mirroring for Android.

It is literally OEM parts and now my 2016 M4 is fully 2020 spec when it comes to infotainment and iDrive.

Although the old iDrive controller buttons do not match the current vehicles, the buttons provide the same functions as they did with the HU-NBT so there is no label confusion. I did lose communications because I did not update the telematics unit.

Everything works as advertised except one thing. The profile memories do not retain the M1 MDrive settings. It does work for the M2 button. So I programmed a radio button to take me to the M1 settings for when I need two MDrive buttons.

Bimmertech's suggestion was to reinstall the old HU-NBT and take the car to a dealer. First of all, this wasn't happening with the HU-NBT and second, the install is not something you just redo the next day. After all my research and coding attempts, I think there is some incompatibility between the HU-EVO communications to some of the other modules that causes this. Or Bimmertech sold me a defective HU-EVO.

Regardless, I am happy with the ID6 functions and having the same iDrive as the 2018 X3 M40i also in my garage.

I have a 2014 M4 and upgraded to evo. I also encountered the same problem. The M1 button settings cannot be stored. Have you solved the problem now? What do you mean by "radio button"? How to program?

This is awesome, who did you order your kit from? Did you upgrade to the 10.25 inch screen as well? How much did it cost?

I bought most of the components on this board from a member, but you can get everything you need from Retrofitmybimmer.com. I had them do the coding for the regular screen > touchscreen conversion. Also to code the IDRIVE unit to my VIN. I thought about going for the 10" screen upgrade but wanted to keep it simple and kept the 8.8" size. It's plenty big honestly.

Love this upgrade/conversion. Best money spent on my M.

Hi,

I also purchased a brand new atm for my retrofit, but connected services still not work.

How did you get your new ATM info updated on bmw servers?

Does the full retrofit show codes in ISTA+ after the fact? I'm leaning towards this way rather than just the flash. I don't want my navigation crashing because of the lower ram capacity on the 16's. Plus CarPlay with a touch screen is so much easier than using the controller.

It doesn't show any codes in ISTA after update/swap if done correctly.

With the full ID6 HU upgrade will I be able to use BimmerCode to do simple HU coding on my 2016? I'm hearing conflicting stories that it's not possible.

Wow, So even after seeing members pay over 2k for a new headunit, touchscreen, and controller you are still limited to coding the headunit with Bimmercode. How about E Sys?
