yeah it sucks. best advice i can give is to get a beater. that way your never forced to park a nice car in a less than ideal environment or busy parking area. parking in higher end areas, boutique shops, or around other nice cars helps. parking it at walmart or CVS/walgreens/doctors offices/fast food joints... you are just asking for a door ding.

Sorry to see this and I am very angry for you. People don't care or just pain jerks. I always parked my car super far and still some jerks just park near it for fun!

The key is to park "far" but not "too far" . This will happen a lot because the person knew you were anal about your car so they mess with you. I can see them saying "oh he thinks his BMW is soooooooo special he doesn't want us "peons" next to it Well here you go Mr. BMW , I am right next to ya!! " It happens everytime I park my M5 this way unless I actually stay in the car.

I'm guessing the other car wanted the shade of the tree. As others have said, I try to park farther and get a corner spot if possible. The only danger is curbing wheels when trying to get very close to the edge of some spots.

Got a couple of quotes at $200-$250 for PDR of 1 smaller-than-golf-ball-sized ding on the rear quarter panel here in San Francisco. Where in CA do you find $100 quotes? I could sure use some!

Always park next to a vehicle of equal or more value. Most people like this are either jealous of your car or they drive a shitbox and don't care.

I always park far away in the grocery store parking. Luckily I always see an Audi S5 parked there so I usually park next to it. I had a bad experience of someone key scratching the door on my 530i last year.

this is the worst of it all.. mindless buffoons don't give a damn about others property.
for this reason alone, i go very early to busy spots, shopping centres etc and find a solo spot. once, i had an SUV guy parked next to me leaning on his door which was pressed on my door and chatting away.. I lost my shit and he was like chill man, its only a car. wish I could face him in a boxing ring... it sucks. |
