Have you tried removing the rear seat bottom to see if you can get the cover? I believe you just pop the front edge out by pulling up on it and the entire seat bottom will come out. I think the F30 forum has some posts on this.

Pics as promised, finally got around to washing my car and taking some proper pics. The rear facing seat is in the furthest recline position and is more on the bulky side and my 5'9" wife can sit pretty comfortably in front (with the backrest a little more upright than she would like). That will all get fixed as my little one doesn't need to be so reclined in her seat.

3) Where can I find this locally if I wanted to do a test fit?

Thanks.

What brand rubber mat are you using under the Recaro?

Recaro pro ride is huge, sits up way too high for rear facing imo. I wanted it until I saw how big it was. ended up getting the clek Flo and have it in both my mdx and wife's lexus. awesome convertible car seat and has one of the best safety and material ratings. m3 stays my fun car but does have plenty of room for one in my experience

Lionheart but i had to separate the top from the bottom to make sure the contact points with the seat were protected. i did the same thing in my X5 as we have the same car seat but different color there.

I'm debating between the Clek Fllo and Britax Advocate CT. I'd prefer the Clek but I'm not convinced it'd fit. If you have some time could you actually try out the Clek in the back of your M3? I'd greatly appreciate it.

I have a clek Foonf and it fits amazing in my 325i, sorry M4 not yet here to try. But the Clek is the best I've seen out there and it comes in all kinda cool fiun designs for kids. I have the "Julius the monkey" for my niece!

Lol. Thank you. But really the kids are only my car for short drives and no food or beverage allowed. 75% of the time they are in the SUV. But I will say, the MPE sound immediately puts both of them to sleep. It's quite funny. Within 5 minutes, whether it's nap time or not, both pass out in the car.

Guys, I have to tell you that I see some horribly installed seats in these pics. If your seat is attached permanently (i.e. is not a belt positioning booster but is secured by latch or a constant belt install, the seat should be tightened down enough so that the seat cushion is imprinted and depressed down. You should not be able to move the seat more than 1" in any direction.

Many of the seats here look like they have merely had the straps tightened, and that could be dangerous in a crash!

Yep.

While in Kalifornistan when my son was born, we hired a car seat specialist to look over our install and was told this too, which we later verified with the manufacturer.

As for why hitting car specialist, because CA public service is so awesome that you have to wait WEEKS to get an appointment from the fire station anywhere not in the sticks for help with car seats. HAHA, high taxes and bad public service.

Oh and real leather will bounce back when your kids are out of car seats, the wrinkle is temporary. I know because I took the car seats off a few days while one of my cars was in service, and when it came back the imprints were barely barely noticeable.

Not necessarily. My E92 had the creases on the seat back for at least a year after I took the seat out up until the day I parted with it. Learned a lesson about buying seats: The Graco I was using had 'ridges' it sort of rode on on the bottom. I've since bought a Clek and it is much more flat surfaced and should crease less. Also, I didn't think I'd need a pad on the seat back. You do.

The Recaro proride fits perfect rear facing with a foam noodle to help get the correct angle in the passenger rear, no complaints from the wife of space

ummmm... how can you tell how tight they are by the pics?... you'll notice most of these installs are on top of seat protectors so thats why they aren't depressed down in to the leather.

The Prince Lionheart protector is very good at eliminating the ridge issue. Because it is so thick, it spreads out the load over the seat. The ridges become less pronounced and bounce back quickly.

Nope.

I use a seat protector, a Prince Lionheart. It is quite rigid, and it still deflects. It should not be sitting completely flat on the seat. That indicates to me that the seat is merely riding on top of the cushion, and the foam is not compressed. The seat protector should be deflected, curled and kind of kinked around the edges. (especially that one).

Also, you will notice that in some of the pics, the seat cushion is still at full height. Even with a protector, you should be able to see some deflection of the cushion around the edges, and you can tell that the seat is pushed down. Believe me, I've done enough installs and seen enough bad ones to tell even in a picture.

What car seat pad do you use to protect the leather?
