Question Apple Carplay input slow

Hi all - Just wanted to know if this is normal. I just got Apple Carplay activated on my 2018 F80, everything connects as expected and I can use Carplay wirelessly. The issue I am having is that there is about a 2-3 second lag between me putting in a command such as pause/play/skip, before the action takes place. Is this delay what you all are experiencing? Normal? I don't have any other issues, just the input delay which is driving me nuts. I tried deleting/removing the paring with the phone from iDrive as well as from the iPhone (BT and Carplay), with no luck.

- I have iPhone 12 with latest update 14.4.2.
- iDrive is update date as of today.

These are the software/firmware I currently have installed:

NBTevo_O18184I

Telephone: TB-006.025.001
Media: MB-006.026.050
HMI: HB-006.026.050

Hi,
drop me your VIN - I'll check if you have WiFi antenna.

Usually works fine on this software version. Try to reset your network settings in iPhone.

Thanks, I will try that. But first, I am going to try with a different iPhone to see it the issue still exist now that I know the lag is not normal. Will update.

Did you confirm if you have a Wifi antenna or not? That will have a huge impact on performance.

Yes, I had to install one before getting Carplay activated. The car did not come with Carplay active.

Yup that's the one and the one I have in two BMWs. I ask because when I tried CarPlay over Bluetooth only, the connection and lag was terrible.

It's possible the antenna could be relocated for better performance. I would check the firmware versions etc as that may be the solution and easier than pulling the dash apart to relocate the antenna.

Firmware version for the antenna? I posted the firmware and software versions above for iDrive.

No sorry for confusion, just the iDrive software/firmware. There is nothing for the antenna it's just a physical device.

Hi I got my NBTnav updated via dealer and reinstalled CarPlay via kubax. That solved the slow CarPlay issue.

Nice, do you know what versions you are on now and what versions you came from? Both for iDrive and NBT.

Hope it helps, I'm still under warranty and had to go for an exhaust flap failure. So I told them my Nav was acting up also (unstable and slow) which is kind of true and they updated it. But it will reset everything. You will probably have to pay if you are out of warranty.

Nothing relevant for BMW beside Fullscreen being able to just code.
