MS springs are crap. Too low and soft and the rear rides the bump stops.

B16D is by far the best, but too stiff for a street car in my opinion.

MP HAS is the most comfortable of the bunch and doesn't crash like MS springs. But I'm also at a very conservative rear drop to make sure it doesn't.

Supreme power tips screw in with an Allen wrench on the bottom. They hold on plenty well, there isn't too much play in them already as they sleeve over the stock tips.

Any other questions please let me know!
Good to know on all fronts. Wish I went with those Supreme Power tips instead. I believe I have to remove the stock tips to install the VRSF, and the clamps are going to annoy me.

Do you think the KW HAS kit compares to the MP HAS? My only gripe with the MP HAS is how expensive it is compared to the other options.

I can’t comment on KW since I’ve never ridden on them, but after going through 2 different aftermarket options, I had enough of experimenting and played it safe with MP HAS. I should have done this from the start, but because I thought I knew better, I ended up wasting 5 grand more than I should have on parts and labor.

There’s nothing like OEM, and you get what you pay for in this case. It’s not perfect, but MP HAS is as good as it gets on the stock shocks in my opinion.

I have the KW HAS kit now on my F80 Comp. IMO it rides rougher than the stock. For me, I wanted it for the stance. Now, that being said, I have already ordered the KW V3's. I've ridden in 2 different M3's with the V3's installed and it is complete night and day. It's literally like driving a different car.

New year, new look

After 3 years, I finally gave into 19s for better tire selection. Specs:

Yokohama Advan GT / Bridgestone RE-71R
19 x 9.5 + 21 / 265-35-19 front
19 x 10.5 +35 / 285-35-19 rear

I still don't like it as much as the stock 18s, but they look pretty cool for 19s, and worth the jump for the better grip.

Also, due to the amazing weather, I took some pics of my 2012 Audi R8 4.2 Spyder 6MT

I ordered my 2016 F83 with the stock 18's because they look so much better than the 437M 19's. After 4 years, I would like to freshen the driving experience a bit and am thinking about lowering the car and switching to 19's. I am willing to put up with slightly firmer ride if I can get more responsive steering and a more planted feel. You have done a series of mods during your ownership, are you pretty happy with where you have ended up? Sounds like your current springs and going to 19's hasn't ruined the car as a daily driver?

By the way, I love the R8 Spyder, but at 6'1" there is no way I can fit in that car legroom-wise. I've tried. Yours is a beauty, though!

As of now, yes. MP HAS is the way to go. Not saying there isn't a coil over out there that is more stable while still being comfortable, but all I know is B16 Damptronic isn't it (for comfort). I've read good things about KW DDC, but it costs more than I'm willing to spend, and passive coil overs with EDC delete are not an option for me.

In my opinion, if you're not going to a full coil over system, do not cheap out on crap springs. If MP HAS is supported on the vert, you're going to be very happy with the ride after installing it. I recommend a conservative drop in the rear - I don't know if mine is even 10mm. Feels so much better than my MS springs at -18mm rear drop. Also, going from 18s to 19s made the ride about 20% stiffer, but still very comfortable, and worth it for the better tire selection. Still miss my 18s though

Regarding the R8: Funny you say that. I never actually sat in the spyder when I ordered it - I test drove the coupe. Then when I bought the car I realized just how much less legroom there is vs. the coupe. I'm 5'11'', but only have a 30 inch inseam (wacky long torso), so I'm able to get away with it with my short legs. But another funny thing is they sloped the windshield on the spyder even more horizontally than the coupe for looks, so the top of the windshield frame is just above my line of sight haha. I need to lower my head to see when the traffic lights change. But it's fine with the top down, which is what I bought it for anyways.

But being able to open the rear window in all seasons to hear the V8 soundtrack with nothing in-between while ripping to 8500 RPM in the gated manual makes it all worth it. Nothing else is like it. An F430 I suppose, but I've never driven one .

Any pictures of your exhaust setup from the under carriage? I'm looking into doing the equal length pipes as well

It probably won't help much, since it was designed as a single exit originally. But picture attached. For the dual exit version check out the production Top Gear Motorworks system:
