Why buying cheap chinese sh*t on the Ali sites is dumb af

Needed a quick dose of reality on the fact that China pumps out terrible quality stuff, and then does not stand behind the product when consumer receives said terrible quality goods.

Bought some of the CF upper splitters on Ali, and when they arrived they did not fit worth a damn, I mean not even close to being able to fit the groove of the front bumper.

After contacting the seller I was told a replacement set was coming, and tracking shows that my replacement was delivered to a different state three months after the beginning of this stupid ass saga.

Seller now saying they are absolved as the product was delivered.

I am basically now the proud owner of $68 worth of Carbon fiber garbage that I can do absolutely nothing with.

Spending 50% more, but saving on all the bullshit...Priceless

I personally don't understand how someone could take a nice car like these and plaster it with poor copies and knock offs. But it's none of my business.

Upper splitters are not copies or knock offs of anything BMW makes. I tried to save some money on a set of what should be an easy to produce CF product. Gambled and lost!

Ouch!

China makes carbon fiber for the OEM Carbon Fiber mirror caps, which are autoclave and high quality. It's going the cheap route that's the problem as it wastes time and money. One we can get back (money), whereas another (time) we can't.

Open a case on Aliexpress, half the time they would rather just give you a refund to save everyone's time.

So my friend and I both ordered an entire M performance style body kit, one from a US vendor and one from Aliexpress. Splitters, front lip, side skirts, trunk spoiler and 3 piece diffuser. Aliexpress total was $975USD shipped, US reputable vendor total was $2500USD shipped.

Difference? US vendors have much better quality control, and holes are pre-drilled like they have actually put it on a test vehicle and drilled it accordingly. I've seen pre-drilled crap from China and they will not line up, not the case with US vendors.

Aliexpress order's trunk spoiler did not fit at all, however they already shipped me a new one and it is arriving this weekend. So we'll see. Front splitters fitment was also not as good, it required some trimming. The rest of the orders: front lip, side skirts and diffuser fit and looks exactly the same.

For me, I'm quite happy that I saved over 50% on a $2k+ order of things that have such a high chance of scraping. They are basically disposables.

Crazy you spent 1k on disposables.

I’m done with Aliexpress, they won’t refund you past 3 weeks if something is wrong

If opening a case within the time frame (15 days after receiving the parts) and Aliexpress won't side with you, then issue a credit card chargeback.

1k on disposables, versus 2.5k on disposables... They both crack just as easily. Carbon fiber from China versus carbon fiber from China sold by a US vendor after QC isn't going to make it any stronger.

*Edit* If they are re-sending you crap, make sure you ask for an extension on the buyer's protection.

Genuine carbon fiber parts resell ok as long as you take care of it. Chances of front lip making it to resell would be pretty slim, though, I would call that and splitters disposable

Sounds like ordering stuff from the JC Whitney catalog in the 70's and 80's. It looked good and was cheap, but the quality was terrible. So you lost $68 OP. No big deal. Just don't go out to dinner one time this month and you got your money back.

This. Buying from AliExpress/eBay is always going to be a gamble, but IMO can be worth it. I had an issue with a supplier last year, contacted Amex, did a chargeback, and moved on. It was pretty easy.

And this is why AMEX is my go to card for everything online. They play no games if I get screwed and can provide documentation.

You're not scamming the vendor, you're merely enacting the right that you have to buyer protection when you use your credit card.

Now, if you used debit?... rip.

I have no qualms about going to eBay for some parts - especially parts that some of y'all are calling disposables. For parts that matter - e.g. engine components - I'd only go through well known dealers/vendors.

I think it's ludicrous spend $1,000 on a lip that'll get cracked just as easily as an eBay lip would. Sure, the quality may not be 100% there, but if it's 50% cheaper, I'll take that risk. eBay support + credit cards and you're pretty covered from BS vendors.

The problem is typical china made replica parts fit like garbage and I can spot a ebay spoiler from a mile away. Nothing like getting a 80K+ car then start making it look cheaper and cheaper by adding shitty fitment parts on it. I've made this mistake in the past and now i live by if you are going to do it then do it right or not at all.

I bought front upper splitters from aliexpress, fit absolutely perfect. Only qualm is that it did not come with the double sided tape it showed in the pics, but was enough to put some 3m and it's perfectly. The carbon weave and color is pretty much identical to the m-performance stuff.

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/grou...27f437d2z8LADO

I found from them the ebay products review thread.

lol you can get your money back easy...

you can't expect to go el cheapo and expect an easy road. my mirror caps are a smidge off; side skirts perfect; spoiler a tiny dent...only I can see these things. the mirror caps and spoiler were 40 and 20 dollars after the seller told me to keep product and refunded most of my money.

buy from ebay; they have the BUYERS back, ali and dhgate are more seller sided

Seems like a small price to pay for risking to possibly get a decent part. You should head over to the eBay Thread many members post on.

Agree with you OP!

Thats why we offer XPH carbon fiber parts. Our prices are very competitive (probably the lowest from a US vendor) and you receive better customer service and support.

All items are shipped from the US, takes a few days to be delivered. We offer fitment guarantee. If you do not like the item for any reason we will take it back no questions asked.
