I was going to order this color until I started reading bad things about SO, like in the sunlight it looks like a shiny new penny! I haven't seen it in person though. I am okay with it being more orange than red and actually wanted an orange car. too bad they couldn't make the SO interior match the exterior, from what I have seen it is a red interior and the colors don't go too well together, if going SO exterior, best to go SS or Black interior. I have a year until my lease is up, really hoping to see one in person before having to order.

SO is beautiful and not copper. When the flake is lit, it is a nice orange. Otherwise is shimmers from reddish to burgandy-ish. The interior has an orange bent and does match well, I've seen SO and SO on an M6. I think it is too much of a good thing, but that's just me. Definitely, check out the color (and the other ones) in person. It looks great with the black accents. The guys who said it looks like a penny or is simply orange, just haven't seen it in real light. As I've noted in couple of threads, go to the dealer and check out a swatch, which is about 4X6 inches, and will quickly dispel any penny fears.

Actually I must leave you all in shame now. After professing my commitment to a truly beautiful color SO I will tomorrow change my order to MW. Mind you I will be happy with mineral white. I drive an M3 daily and get a new one every three years....how bad can my life be? I wanted something very different than my current AW M3. But reality is this is not my fun car, it is what I drive to work every day. And maybe I am fooling myself, but screaming copper penny orange may just push too many people over the edge....more so than MW. Sometimes it is a little more convenient to fly under the radar.

damn did I change your mind? Shakir is a awesome color don't change. It will be way more interesting than MW. I was giving the SO guys crap because they are alway saying YMB looks like the Smurfs! If you haven't seen the color go see a M5 in it. It's a really nice color, it's different but not too flashy. What I like about is no one makes a color like this. Don't change your mind you will enjoy the car way more. You won't get bored with it after 3 years. I have had Silverstone and my lease in up next week and I'm so bored with it. Sick of staring at boring silver. The M3 is a special car and deserves a special color. SO doesn't pop when I see it on the street. It's a great color that's not in the greyscale. Go with your gut, you will regret it when you see a SO car drive by. E90 colors where very boring IMO. You had to pay 5k for something interesting and different. BMW is giving us some paint option that no other manufactures make. That's is awesome IMO. I wonder if these colors will be around next year. It's great marketing for BMW. People will see these color and know the car is something different. If I got a M5 I would get Shakir. It's a great color interesting while keeping under the radar. You are lucky you can see the color before you buy it. A lot of AY and YMB owners are ordering the car blind. All BMW new color are multidimensional. Like Silverstone. They look different at different angles/light. I have seen 300 YMB photos and they all look different! Plus you live in NC. I lived there for 4 year and there are so many trees you will get a lot of shade.

I have seen SO and believe it is incredible. I get hung up on people's perceptions. Again maybe I'm fooling myself but I think my current AW flys more under the radar.

I may be heading down the same exact path as you. SO, speedcloth, 18 inch wheels, manual. Only extras are adaptive suspension and HK. Of course, I've changed my mind on options so many times, who knows where I'll wind up. May break down at some point and decide to get Exec Package, but don't need or want a lot of that equipment.
