He might have been there for a while.

Heard a big bike revving his engine as I was merging but could not see it anywhere, so I thought it's on the other side. The unrestricted section then began, gave the car the full beans...only to discover the guy later while doing well over 170. Never happened to me before, was so mad at what could have happened that I almost followed the guy and wanted to call the police. One more reason to install dashcams already...front and rear looking.
So driving 170+ is ok, but "racing" is a no-no? Both on public roads, mind you? I really don't understand the thought process of some people...

He lives in Germany.... which has an autobahn?

Driving 170+ in open highway by yourself is perfectly safe on the Autobahn. Racing on the other hand is never safe. People make stupid decisions derived from pride, including weeding through other cars for an edge.

Neither of these are true. Driving 170+ isn't "perfectly safe", legal or otherwise. Racing, also, isn't "always" dangerous. My point is, driving at 170 isn't inherently "safe" whether your alone or there's another person 1 lane over going the same speed. Really whats the difference?

Ummmmm Yeah. Driving 170+ is perfectly legal in Germany which is where the poster lives. Many of us, me included, have been to Germany and driven 170mph on the Autobahns. Different culture. I think you should get out more!

Ummm yeah, except I acknowledged its legality in the very comment you just posted???
Wasn't questioning the legality of driving 170 in Germany, was questioning why someone who would drive 170 on a public road, would be surprised when others also drive 170+ on the same road

That's the average speed in Germany's left lane. You cannot equate German public roads to American public roads. At all. Maybe your panties aren't strong enough to handle that stress. No worries man. Not safe for you doesn't equal not safe.

Where exactly did I equate US roads with German roads? Reading comprehension people, try it sometime!

Not trying to be a buzzkill, but pls keep it safe up in the canyons. If that GT3RS passed you over the double yellows, what an idiot. Would hate for something bad to happen to anyone up there and also the possibility of more police scrutiny. The canyons, esp ACH, is a gift from the racing gods

Encountered a FBO 340i with a loud-ass burble tune.
Was in my stock M4 CS, so gave him a run.
Was about 4-5 car lengths ahead from 40 - 120 on a fair hit.

Those ZL1s are actually pretty slow for the power.
Back when my GTR was just midpipe + tune, gapped one by buses from a roll.

What mods you running?

I really expected him to walk me. I'm BM3 stg2, downpipes and intake. We did a 50 roll both times and I pulled him pretty comfortably, no gap but it felt great

I get at least a few stock 6th gen Camaro SS's a month trying to run me no matter what car I'm in...
Or worse, an ecoboost that decides to swerve in and out of traffic for no reason.

BM3 + BO is no joke! With tires you can get some serious big boy trap times.
Just wait and see what you do to that ZL1 if you get turbos

I just put on R888r tires in the rear on Wednesday

Ughhh, I keep eyeing the pure turbos, I just don't know if I'm ready for that kind of commitment

You still have the GTR?

Is the Audi Q8rs out yet? If so I ran one today. It was definitely a Q8 and did have some sort of R or S badging like I’ve seen on other Audi models. Anyway we took a corner at low speed off a red stop light and he kicked into it first. I pretty much blew by him thereafter then he tucked in behind me till I had to make another turn to go home. If it was an RS, these have monster HP/QT numbers but look like they are pretty heavy. Usually don’t do this but I like beating up on Audi’s when they want me to.

I had a modded and tuned GTR try to pull away from me and he couldn't.
driving around 70mph on autobahn, the guy is to my left, looks at me and floors it, I get behind him and he couldn't pull away. He slows down for traffic, same thing happens.
His car shot a bit of flame out the exhaust and was louder than stock.
We pulled to about 140mph ish both times.

The average speed on the german autobahn in my estimation is around 70-90 MPH. Even in the unlimited zones.

Anything above 120-130 KPH the insurance companies will start to not cover you in an accident. Germans also pay about 7$ a gallon for gas. so they tend to not go blasting around too quickly. Occasionally you get the random person driving pretty fast, but not often.

You must be running larger turbos with e85 and custom tune and not stock
