An FYI for those of you with the GTS DCT flash, 61.0 (2017_03_502 I-STEP) introduces a new version; this was made available to the 'community' only this week, so...

Ask your vendor for an update. :-)

Yes. Programming counter increments, as it always does, whenever someone flashes the ECU. (It's not a TCU; it's electronic, like all other ECUs.)

There's no HW difference so IME HW-IDs from SVTactual is a button that's not needed. Also, in the cases where I /do/ use this button, it's used /before/ the save action; otherwise, it's pointless afaik.

Ignition in position 1 (i.e. on, but not running); despite not clearly knowing what you mean by 'this' I'm fairly sure that's your answer regardless.

I did this step by step

Connect to the M3/M4.
Open TAL Calculating view.
Read and save the FA (vehicle order).
Edit the FA and change the Typschlüssel to 4S93 (or 4S91 if euro model).
Calculate FP to make sure FA is valid. If not maybe need to change the Zeitkriterium to a newer date and/or remove some options.
Once FP successfully calculated, save new FA.
Return to TAL Calculating view and load vehicle order from the saved file.
Activate loaded FA.
Read Actual SVT and save.
Select Complete Flash and click Calculate.
Save Target SVT.

But my car still had Typschlüssel -8m92 ???

What do you mean by your car still had 8M92? You mean if you read FA?

Further, there are some discussions about the lack of value of flashing the GTS EGS firmware for a stock M3/M4, but it seems there are many modded Ms that claim to have benefited from such an upgrade. You decide if it's worth your time, effort and money. Cheers!

I just got the DCT, EDC, GHAS, EPS and DSC coded remotely (Europe) by Alex. Thanks for the fast & good service. I will recommend every owner of a non-ZCP M3/M4

Glad to hear you had a good experience with Alex! Can you elaborate on your driving experience after the upgrades? Thinking of doing the same soon(have to get the dealer to update my ISTAP software first) as I have an "old" 15 model...

I can just reconfirm the feeling of less floating after the optimization of the EDC damper settings. I noticed immediately that shifts are faster en smoother, same when downshifting in efficient and sport setting. It's putting the power better on the road (like a ZCP i think). Less dead zone due to the steerings setting is (merely) noticeable and got the feeling of more road feedback (very subjective). I haven't try the more permissive MDM yet. I'm still on wintersetup. The real gain i will noticed when i change to the summer setup with PS4s. My F82 is from july 2014, so for me it's feel like a big improvement

I'm glad the market pressure for him to offer Conversion Packages have prompted him to expand his offerings. Care to share price? (PM is fine if you'd rather not state in the thread.)

I've seen this exact same package go for $200 fwiw (not from him), and GTS DCT flashing alone for as low as $100...

Here's a gist of what a proper TAL for this job would look like.

I would appreciate keeping this thread scoped to technical info and driving experience feedback rather than pivoting in the direction of an advertisement for any vendor.

Today my car was updated to the latest sw 61.02
I have M4 MY 2015 and I do not see ATM ecu .
My friend's car is M4 MY 2016 and ATM ecu was updated.
Why mine is missing?
Then I noticed that with Michelin 4s the Gts steering code make it lighter and driving feeling at fast speed is not positive at all.

ATM is for vehicles with HU_NBT2 & ID5.

Since this is flashing and not FDL coding, will the flashing stay in place after future software updates from the dealer like VO coding? I wouldn't want to spend a few hundred and then lose it with a dealer update. Also has anyone been to a dealer after these flashes and what was their response if they noticed it? I've already had BMW kick me to the curb over warranty after a Dinan DME flash. Dealer has never given me any problems over all VO and FDL coding i've done.

Updates would wipe it out if and only if the EGS is part of the update delta. Most vendors out there, I'd wager, have a repeat business discount. Also, 'a few hundred' is likely too high. :-)

Dealerships *can* notice it, if they dig a bit, but it doesn't throw a hard fault/DTC like the DME tamper code etc. That said, routine maintenance doesn't often involve ISTA dives (or anything more than a CBS reset), and I'm unsure but find it unlikely that a BOM of what's currently installed on there car is sent to a central database.

While I'm no legal expert nor a warranty expert, I'd think that this is (perhaps negligibly) less risky, since it's their own software running on the exact same hardware and downstream powertrain parts... but that's just optimistic speculation, and valid as it may seem, it's admittedly optimistic.

Post 17 in this thread:
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...9&postcount=17

Sharing steps, aside from being a liability, also eliminates the fun of figuring it out on one's own, and anyone with sufficient flashing experience has more than enough info on this thread, especially with a practically complete TAL shared in one of my earlier posts.

Does anyone here have first-hand flashing, or at least receiving, this coding, and care to chime in?
