Alfa Romeo QF resale prices tank

For a car that was selling at sticker when new, there's quite a few 2017/2018s with really low miles for low $40s. Reliability is killing them.

Two most important rules of getting a car:

Never spend hard earned money on a Maserati or an Alfa Romeo.

Best case is that it stays at $40k for a few years while slowly creeping up after people realize they last, and that Alfa isn't going to exit the US market again

$40k + extended warranty = many years of fun.... and many dealer visits.

The base models are at 18-20k. You couldn't get a CRV for that.

base model is worth LESS than a 20 yr old S2000?

on one hand that's some serious depreciation... on the other hand that could be a great deal.

Only buy this car if you're equally passionate about the Dodge Caravan....you'll be driving that half the time as your loaner.

Italian trash will always be trash, yes I jest , but it’s got heart and soul that few others can produce. I hope Alfa comes back, reworked and better than ever. I’m looking forward to test driving the GTV. My F80CP is a great piece of precision steel, aluminum & CF, but can sometimes leave me feeling just a little bit strident.

People are scoring new 17 and 18 in the high $50's. That is nuts.... I hate the reliability issues but getting a Ferrari designed V6 with better handling than a F80/F82 car in that price is a great deal.

Agreed. That and a good Indy mechanic or learn to DIY, and it’s a really nice way to go.

There are used ones all over the place with a less than 5k miles in the low to mid 50s. Crazy, still don't want to do it though.

I don’t think the reliability issues are really there aside from early 2017 cars. I know a few who have owned the Giulia QV and put 10-20k of worry free miles on them. A new QV for 55-60k is a steal for what is arguably the best car in the class.

Jump in at that money, they are a bargain buy, when you’re done just trade it and move on

As someone who owns both, i can confidently say that the chassis, dampening, engine, sound, and transmission is superior to f8x - chassis especially so

Have one with ceramics and bucket seats, my only advise would be go for regular seats as buckets aren’t adjustable and if you’re slimmer the adjustable bolster regular seats hug you better.

No reliability issues at all, the brake by wire is a bit unnerving jumping bw cars but you get used to it - no more than jumping bw a car with steels and ceramics and relearning the grab point first few stops

Once Alfa release the facelift and sort the infotainment and centre console trim, I’ll trade it for a stelvio qv with ceramics and regular seats

Most of those low price cars have branded titles. Alfa was fairly quick to buyback problem cars, supposedly fixed them, and promptly auctioned them. That is not reflective of the whole QV market, and the last thing you’d want to do is try to save a few bucks on ANY branded title car from any manufacturer.

The only other thing skewing used prices are the temporary fallout from those dealers who gave up the franchise. Again, cars bought back by FCA, and auctioned off to Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep dealers, and being sold for lower than normal prices.

My local dealer has no 2018 or 2019 Giulia QVs left, but does have 3 fully-loaded 2018 Stelvio QVs left, but I chock that up to optioning them to the max with stupid options. CCBs on an SUV and unheated CF Sparco racing seats were not the smartest idea for the wintery Northeast.

Mine have been amazingly reliable to date, which exceeded even my lofty expectations.

Every new platform has issues, but motoring journalism suffers the same issue as social media - sensationalism gets clicks and thus advertising revenue, and in case of reviewing Alfa’s, being woke to old Alfa stereotypes is easy click bait

I've kept an eye on the market. Looks like a buying opportunity to me.

If I didn't still love my E90 and it didn't feel more and more like a unicorn I'd pick up a QF.
