Cool 2018 Audi RS5 Review - This car is from a different world!

I’m in love with new beast. The new Audi RS5 is from a different

PROS

- Great Engine and power, tons of torque from very low RPM 1900, very linear power and almost no lag
- amazing interior and material used from CF, Alcantara and NAPPA, super well build quality
- Exterior is really modern and futuristic, the Matrix HL are so sweet and pretty, lovely lines and Car is wide man!

CONS

-Exhaust too quiet and becuz the build quality and isolation is so good u can't hear it much
-gearbox is very smooth (Tiptronic 8 Speed Auto) can get a bit boring keep switching gears and not very aggressive changes, flap paddles are made from plastic and are short could be super hard to reach and annoying at times.

This car makes the M4 looks from a different age, and I was not expecting to get so impressed with it! the M4 is still more aggressive and RAW

Thanks for the review. This will probably be my next car. I really like the Nardo Gray with black optic package.

Awesome review man! I just got an RS3 and it has a DCT 7 speed gearbox not the ZF Transmission. It's acceleration is insane thanks to the Quattro system and as you mentioned, the interior quality is on a different level IMHO

Love the looks of the car except for those hideous wheels. Good lord what in the hell were they thinking? Also, why does Audi not put a full leather dash in an $80K car? Blasphemy.

The wheels...they are really an issue on every Audi RS model besides the RS6 and R8. RS3, RS4 and RS5 all have hideous wheels.

Audis build quality is really amazing, especially inside the cabin. But the RS5 is a difficult car - it is too close positioned to the S5 (same engine) and not a "real" RS car anymore. It is too soft and more a "GT" car than a sports car like the M4 or C63 are - and that was always the S5's position in the market.

S5 just seems to give more bang for the buck. The old RS' lineup used to offer much more of a package but it just seems that these days, Audi does minor tweaks for major money.

S5 makes more sense based on the $$

The RS5 just doe not feel special. It has a 2.9L V6, in an Automatic, AWD car. From all the reviews, it seems soulless.

I am sure it is really fast off the line. The drive however, would be uninspiring and quite dull. For $80-$90K I would 100% hard pass. The interior/tech is amazing, though. As with most Audi's.

I test drove the outgoing RS5 (2015 coupe). Man, that thing sounded great and the high revving V8 felt "special" and sounded intoxicating. The V6 just does not do anything for me. Even though the twin turbo is a lot faster.

I'd much rather have the much cheaper and much faster TTRS. Not to mention the 5 banger sounds so much better.

I agree about the wheels but I did see this car at a local dealer with the wheels painted black; could be a good remedy?

I think the standard 19’s look pretty good. Those 20’s I see in most images are hideous.

It is not hideous but not have great soul for sure! the looks, interior tech is well worth the money I would say! you are talking as the car is not powerful or fun to drive and it is very fast and planted. a superb GT too.

TTRS for me is still a girls driven car! Snappy Phoenix
Got the new RS3 is better and 4 doors sedan than the TTRS.

We all want Natural aspirated V8 not only from Audi's but also BMW we all miss it! I think it is time to enjoy what the cars are having advantage from power and torque and stop comparing to the past! the future is here! the new RS5 is huge contender for the M4 and I am speaking from personal ownership to the 2016 M4 and 2018 ZCP!

Yes, precisely. The car is not powerful enough or fun to drive for the price of entry ($80-90K). From a rolling start the now 4-year old F8x platform will walk it pretty hard.

I have personally owned TWO F80's myself (look in my sig) and have driven/owned many Audi's as well. The future is not looking to good for car people.

Not sure what to make of this statement?! "the new RS3 is better and 4 doors sedan than the TTRS."

So being 300LBS lighter (faster), having higher quality interior materials and being able to handle better via shorter wheelbase, lighter weight, more agile, Etc. is "worse"? Not everyone wants a bigger car. Bigger is not always better. If that is the case, you should have got an M3 and not an M4...since 4-doors is better, anyway

Fortunately, I do not suffer from masculinity issues (can't speak for all of us here) and buy cars for their performance, driving experience and soul. Not "tech" or interior materials. I am a car enthusiast after all.

I own/owned "manly"/ "macho" cars like the Hellcat and my current GT350 (along with some diesel trucks)... it didn't make my dick any bigger

So just to be clear a car you haven't driven is uninspiring and dull because it has an engine you've read about and you don't like because it's a v6.

And it's not worth "$80-90k" even though it's within $1200 of the starting price of an m4.

That's some crazy thought process

Audi offers an "upgraded" wheel option for an extra $1K over the wheels shown on the car.
