EU5 Injector Coding: Scan Tool vs ISTA-P
I'll be swapping out the EU6 injectors on my M4 for higher-flowing EU5 injectors at the end of this spring, and am looking for some information on the coding/calibration aspect.
Two options that I came across that have potential are the Foxwell NT510 Elite and Schwaben Professional Elite. From what I've gathered both of these units possess the capability to code injectors, however I have as of yet to see it implemented on the F8X platform. (Side note: ECS did confirm that the injector coding functionality will work with the Schwaben unit for F8X). The other obvious route is that of ISTA-P and coding/calibrating them directly. Not a deal breaker by any means, however I'm unsure how I would go about it aside from figuring out how to install the software and hoping for the best. Does anyone have any experience in this realm with either the Scan/Flash Tools or ISTA-P when it comes to calibrating injectors? |

I've asked both Kratos, PTF Halim and F80Paul directly and there is a complete difference between "coding" and the fueling "maps". Even if you code for EU5 you still need a tune that scales fueling maps for the bigger EU5 instead of the stock EU6.

That's what I figured: just coding them in will only allow the DME to "see" them correctly, but won't do anything for the fuel tables or injector scaling. I'm talking with Cary right now about the actual tuning aspect, but as I plan on installing the injectors myself I wanted to make sure I can at least code them in to the car prior to the tuning session.

Consider up front if you need to pass inspection and discuss that with Cary. You may need a whole separate map for cats-on if you need to go through that (like me).

Good call. I have an out-of-state military exemption right now, but once I separate it'll be a whole different ball game depending on where we settle.

Bumping this thread as I plan to install EU5’s. I have Foxwell NT630.
Does anyone have any experience coding EU5’s using a Foxwell or ISTA? I have access to both but the Foxwell interface is less intense. Any help is appreciated! |

No issues. Kubax, wouldn't return any emails so I bought and used the scan tool (Foxwell) from Amazon.

BM3, even on a Stg0 map and with full emissions equipment in place, will not pass emissions. This means that if you have to tell BM3 that your car has EU5 injectors for it to scale the amount of fuel it injects, then you cannot use the stock tune anymore, and that means you cannot pass OBD emissions. |
