DCT clunk/thump sound when coming to a stop
Hey guys I've had my m4 for a couple of weeks now and I've been noticing a clunk sound from underneath the car , pretty sure it's coming from the dct . It happens almost every time I get to a complete stop . The clunk probably happens around 5mph right before coming to a stop. This is my first dct so I'm not sure if this is normal or something I should bring up to my dealer when I have my 1200 mile service. Any input would help , thanks guys

It's normal. Nothing wrong what so ever, I believe it's the tranny releasing the gear and going into slip mode while you're static. My Evo sounded like a transformer when down shifting coming to a stop, I miss the mechanical noises. This DCT is relatively quiet.
You're also going to start to hear or feel what seems to be grinding, that's normal also, the clutches slipping. There's a lot of gizmos moving around in there, get used to it, I think it's cool. |

A slight clunk when approaching a stop is normal for DCT even in the E9x cars. This is further exacerbated by lower ambient temperatures.
However, I would not go as far as saying "grinding" is normal or acceptable. |

Normal sound when slowing down and DCT releases during full stop...unless of course there is a body bag in the boot.

My experience is that high performance cars usually have more sounds than normal cars. To me it is telling me what the car is or is it doing. My wife is amazed how I can just turn the radio off out of the blue because I heard or didn't hear a sound which I should/should not be hearing. To me it is a bonus. Then again I don't need a super quite Lexus experience

My sense is it's not the clutch pack releasing. OP says it happens at about 5 mph which is about when the DCT is dropping into first gear. If it were me I would have dealer drive it at the 1200 mile service.

I drive a 2018 M3 CS and do not notice any clunks when coming to a stop. In your case maybe the bushings they installed are stiffer than stock which again would exaggerate transmitted noises. OP has anew car under warranty so he should have dealer diagnose. |

If I remember correctly, I've read in the manual that this sound your talking about is normal. I'm sure you'll find it in the service or transmission pages.
I don't hate it, its part of the experience. Like a Ducati bike |
