DCT clunk/thump sound when coming to a stop

Hey guys I've had my m4 for a couple of weeks now and I've been noticing a clunk sound from underneath the car , pretty sure it's coming from the dct . It happens almost every time I get to a complete stop . The clunk probably happens around 5mph right before coming to a stop. This is my first dct so I'm not sure if this is normal or something I should bring up to my dealer when I have my 1200 mile service. Any input would help , thanks guys

Happens occasionally to me especially during traffic and first gear engaged.

Dont worry about it, it is normal atleast that's what I've heard.

Enjoy your car.

It's normal. Nothing wrong what so ever, I believe it's the tranny releasing the gear and going into slip mode while you're static. My Evo sounded like a transformer when down shifting coming to a stop, I miss the mechanical noises. This DCT is relatively quiet.
You're also going to start to hear or feel what seems to be grinding, that's normal also, the clutches slipping.
There's a lot of gizmos moving around in there, get used to it, I think it's cool.

A slight clunk when approaching a stop is normal for DCT even in the E9x cars. This is further exacerbated by lower ambient temperatures.

However, I would not go as far as saying "grinding" is normal or acceptable.

Normal sound when slowing down and DCT releases during full stop...unless of course there is a body bag in the boot.

Sound does get a bit annoying when the radio is off and that's all you hear is clunk when coming to a full stop .

I have come to conclusion that this vehicle makes many sounds...much like being a new parent and taking care of a newborn. Eventually you get used to it...or turn the music up louder.

Normal DCT makes all kinds of sounds... think of it as gremlins inside your car and yes GTR is effing horrible with clunky sounds.

My experience is that high performance cars usually have more sounds than normal cars. To me it is telling me what the car is or is it doing. My wife is amazed how I can just turn the radio off out of the blue because I heard or didn't hear a sound which I should/should not be hearing. To me it is a bonus. Then again I don't need a super quite Lexus experience

My sense is it's not the clutch pack releasing. OP says it happens at about 5 mph which is about when the DCT is dropping into first gear. If it were me I would have dealer drive it at the 1200 mile service.

Don't know. I can only guess. My understanding is the diff is bolted directly to the chassis on these cars with no bushings which exaggerates clunks from gear changes. Maybe it's just that and some cars are more prone then others.

I drive a 2018 M3 CS and do not notice any clunks when coming to a stop. In your case maybe the bushings they installed are stiffer than stock which again would exaggerate transmitted noises. OP has anew car under warranty so he should have dealer diagnose.

Hi guys

First sorry for my English but i
Will try to explain The best I can what happend to
My dct .

My dct was replaced by 1st Owner when car had 14 k miles according dcf report.

From last 7 k miles i had clunking noises from my transmission under load specially on low gears, I did diagnosis and the dealer said that dct need to be replaced. The thing is my warranty is done and I open the case on Bmw North America if they can help me with that case . My car already have 68 k miles and I’m not sure if they will be able to cover that or not , what do you think guys ?

If I remember correctly, I've read in the manual that this sound your talking about is normal. I'm sure you'll find it in the service or transmission pages.

I don't hate it, its part of the experience. Like a Ducati bike
