PS4S star rated- Impressions
I figured I'd give my thoughts on the PS4S BMW star rated tires after running nothing but star spec PSS since 2019. (2 full sets)I went back and forth on getting these tires and this set I had no option but to get these.
I'll get this out of the way first. I bought these and all my other tires from the BMW dealer for 2 reasons... 1) Star rated and a great replacement warranty for road hazards-no patching. 2) Price is negligable from cheaper tires shops with non star spec tires. Impressions on driving: Unbelievable grip, comfort, and overall driving dynamics. Where I used to not be able to confidently blast down roads with unleveled surfaces, I now just fly down them now full throttle without a bucking steering wheel and my brain rattling in my skull. Road noise is nearly eliminated and there's much quicker acceleration due to grip. I am almost certain now that most of the performance coming from the G82 RWD is due to these tires alone. Ride is 50% more compliant in IMHO. Impressions on looks: Ugly... Makes the 666M wheels look terrible. Looks and feels like it sits higher, like Jeep tires. I think they would look spectacular on a set of 763M wheels but not on the 666M. Overall I am very happy with these. The original tires the car was always so skittish and high strung, if that makes sense. I would also get wheel spin in 3rd gear on a stock car. Now I have to really work for wheel spin after first gear.

Oem spec sizes. Bought from BMW. You can't get star rated tires from tire rack. At least I don't believe you can.

I think they look better than the 4S though. I wish we didn't have so much heavy rain, I'd have gone cup2.

I thought oem spec for 666 (zcp) was: 265/30R20 94Y on the fronts 285/30R20 99Y on the rears |

You can buy star tires from tire rack. Still scratching my head why you wanted a less-wide star spec tire.

Anyways a set installed from the dealer was only 220 bucks more with alignment versus tire racks price without installation. I did not go wider because I always go for what the car was designed to work with. I'm a fan of OE.

So you’re using G80 BMW star spec in rear 285/30ZR20? What are you running in the front? Wouldn’t this cause imbalance in the handling using different tires front and rear?

OEM G82 rear and non star rated PS4 up front all in OEM sizes on the 666M wheels. It's a full set of PS4, the rears having the star compound. Drives so much freaking better.

Bumping this thread.
These tires are shit. The rears are basically racing slicks now at ONLY 5K MILES!!!! My OE PSS lasted 7K-9K miles depending on driving style. No tunes, bolt on's or anything else have been done to the car. Back to OEM star spec PSS it is! Great looks, razor sharp handling, bumpier ride, more slip at launch, and longer tread life. Back to caffeinated driving style. :-)

My PSS tires always lasted 8-9K miles. Nearly double that of these so called upgraded replacements. They were great when new but so are the OEM PSS.

Will have a new set on by next week. Not looking forward to the extra road noise and unsettled handling over bumps but, at 2K a set installed I'll be damned if I'm gonna swap sets at 5K miles.

The Star PSS just look so damn proper on this car. I think now that I run a R1S as a daily, I have come full circle and realize that it is so much faster than the M4. So, I'm going back for that scalpel precision from when I picked her up. Seen in this photo.
