Thumbs up bootmod3 - S55 stock datalog - in case you're curious..

For those of you curious on how your S55 works, bootmod3's logging can help with tremendous insight. Over 250 channels available for datalogging. This log is doing over 30 in parallel. We've gone close to 40 in parallel without any issues!

This came in from some testing with one of our closed beta cars on this forum.

Live graph, open to public:

http://datazap.me/u/bootmod3/bootmod....90&tmax=35.50

To log and switch maps, you plug the bootmod3 device into the OBD port, it registers your car with the bootmod3 cloud servers and makes the car available for all the features available. Once you're in the mobile app you see your car connected and can start logging, map switching and loading custom tunes, diagnostics (code read/clear, reset adaptations, ecu reset), etc.

As an aside, this was after a map switch was done over to the stock (factory/original) map/tune

If its done over the air does it sync with your phone and rely on the phones service? Do you guys have a rough idea on a larger roll out date yet?

It uses your phone as a hotspot.

That looks sweet, and you guys must be geniuses to figure this out on the F8x. What type of data can you get on brakes, Individual brake pressure per wheel? Another idea, do you know that data logging (if realtime) can be used for laptimer track activities and the companies that does this equipment are still in the dinosaur age! Would you license a data logging API that either other devices or other software can use?

I see that boost is reporting 14.7psi (1bar) at idle. Have you thought about doing the math in the datalogger to automatically to get an absolute boost reading? And maybe have a toggle to switch back and forth?

This!

And also, is the boost pressure scaling off a bit, or is this absolute pressure?

According to PTF, you don't need to jailbreak your DME to get access to data logging (if that was your question), and I believe it's through their OBD device wirelessly to your smartphone and/or through a cloud?

Isn't this a platform amongst other features to allow flashing "tunes" via the OBD port once the DME is jailbroken? So why would you need to hook up to sensors? Just curious. Don't have a tune nor planning to buy one.

no idea. I'm waiting on something similar to the COBB Accessport so I can disconnect all my JB4 stuff and run something that has more of a cleaner install

FYI, from my limited understanding, a JB4 is a piggy back, hence why it needs to hook up to multiple sensors/locations, while a tune is a DME software customization that requires bench flashing the DME for the first time, where afterwards I think with BM3 you can change the "tunes/maps" using the OBD port.

This.

Furthermore, you don't need to bench flash the DME to access CANBus data through the OBDII port for datalogging purposes.

This uses your factory engine computer. No piggyback or sensor hookups required at all. Different ballgame entirely from piggybacks.
